Ophthalmic devices and ophthalmic systems including alignment sidewalls and blend zones disposed therethrough are described. An example ophthalmic device may include a first and a second optical element having alignment sidewalls shaped to cooperatively couple. The alignment sidewall may include blend zones disposed in the sidewall shaped to transition the sidewall from a ridge to a surface of an optic zone of the optical element. The alignment sidewalls may define a cavity disposed between two coupled optical elements when the alignment sidewalls are cooperatively coupled into which a liquid crystal may be disposed. A method of assembling an ophthalmic device is described. An example method may include aligning a blend zone of a first optical element with a mating blend zone of a second optical element. The example method may further include cooperatively coupling alignment sidewalls of the first optical element and the second optical element.

Apparatus and systems for an ophthalmic device having alignment features that aid assembly of a liquid filled layered stack are disclosed herein. An example apparatus may include first, second, and third optical elements arranged in a stack, with each optical element including alignment and separation features. The alignment and separation features may form an optic region and a dam region. The optic region encircles an optical axis of each of the optical elements. The dam region includes a first dam formed due to the first and second optical elements being in contact, and a second dam formed due to the second and third optical elements being in contact, wherein the dam region determines an optic region gap width.

An ophthalmic device including patterned tabs is disclosed herein. An example ophthalmic device may include a plurality of optical elements formed into a stack and a substrate. A subset of optical elements of the plurality of optical elements may include a tab extending radially outward from an edge perimeter of a respective optical element, and each tab may include an opening formed there through. The substrate may include a plurality of bond pads, where each optical element of the plurality of optical elements is coupled to one of the plurality of bond pads by a conductive material, and the conductive material is disposed within respective openings of the subset of optical elements of the plurality of optical elements.

An eye-mountable device is provided that includes a plurality of rigid polymer layers separated by liquid crystal layers. Certain eye-mountable devices includes a first rigid polymer layer, a second rigid polymer layer, and a liquid crystal layer between the first and second rigid polymer layers. The liquid crystal layer has a refractive index that is electrically controllable between an ordinary refractive index and an extraordinary refractive index, and the first rigid polymer layer and second rigid polymer layer include materials having a refractive index similar to the ordinary refractive index of the liquid crystal layer. The first rigid polymer layer and second rigid polymer layer may also include a combination of monomer-derived units that provide cast-moldable materials with high oxygen permeability. Methods for fabricating the eye-mountable device and for changing the focal length of the eye-mountable device are also provided.

An eye-mountable device is provided that includes electronics encapsulated within a rigid, gas-permeable polymeric material. The eye-mountable device includes an electroactive lens that can be operated to control an overall optical power of the eye-mountable device to restore an amount of visual accommodation of an eye to which the device is mounted. A method for fabricating the eye-mountable device is provided that includes applying an adhesive to secure lenses of the electroactive lens together and to maintain an amount of liquid crystal in the space between the lenses. The rigid, gas-permeable polymeric material can then be formed around the electroactive lens, electronics, or other elements of the eye-mountable device. The rigid, gas-permeable polymeric material can be mountable to a corneal surface of an eye or can be disposed on or within a soft polymeric material that is mountable to the corneal surface of the eye.

An eye-mountable device includes a lens enclosure, an anterior conductive electrode, a posterior conductive electrode, and an accommodation actuator element. The lens enclosure includes an anterior layer and a posterior layer. The anterior conductive electrode is disposed within the lens enclosure and across a center region of the lens enclosure. The posterior conductive electrode is disposed within the lens enclosure and across the center region. The accommodation actuator element is disposed within the lens enclosure between the anterior and posterior conductive electrodes in the center region. The anterior and posterior conductive electrodes are transparent and electrically manipulate the accommodation actuator element.

Rigid, gas-permeable polymer as over-mold and sealant for adaptive ophthalmic lens

A system including two or more wearable devices includes at least one sensor in each device to detect signals related to the body of a wearer. User inputs, sensor outputs, or other information are used to determine an activity being performed or otherwise engaged in by the wearer and footsteps, heartbeats, discrete turns of the torso, or other events can be detected, from one or more of the sensor outputs, during a period of time that the user is engaged in the activity. A duration, amplitude, timing, mean value, or other characteristic of each such detected event can be determined, based on the sensor outputs, and used to generate a sample of clinically relevant information about the wearer. This information can then be used to determine the presence, stage, degree, progression, or other information about a disease state of the wearer or some other information about the wearer's body.

System and methods for integrating feedback from multiple wearable sensors

Apparatus and systems for an ophthalmic device having alignment features for a liquid filled layered stack to assemble are disclosed herein. An example apparatus may include first, second, and third optical elements arranged in a stack, with each optical element including alignment and separation features. The alignment and separation features may form a reservoir region and a dam region. The reservoir region may provide radial alignment to the first, second, and third optical elements such that an optical axis of each optical element is aligned, and the reservoir region may have a reservoir region gap formed between adjacent ones of the optical elements. The dam region, disposed radially outside of the reservoir region, may include a first dam formed due to the first and second optical elements being in contact, and a second dam formed due to the second and third optical elements being in contact, wherein the dam region determines a reservoir region gap width.

An eye-mountable device includes a flexible lens enclosure, anterior and posterior flexible conductive electrodes, and an accommodation actuator element. The flexible lens enclosure includes anterior and posterior layers that are sealed together. The anterior flexible conductive electrode is disposed within the flexible enclosure and across a center region of the flexible lens enclosure on a concave side of the anterior layer. The posterior flexible conductive electrode is disposed within the flexible enclosure and across the center region on a convex side of the posterior layer. The accommodation actuator element is disposed between the first and second flexible conductive electrodes. The anterior and posterior flexible conductive electrodes are transparent and electrically manipulate the accommodation actuator element.

Among other things, there is disclosed an improved wet wipe or similar substrate for applying an antibacterial/antibiotic layer to surfaces or other items. A wipe substrate is impregnated with a solution in water of organo-functional silane-based molecule, such as 3-(trihydroxysilyl) propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride and/or octadecyldimethyl trimethoxysilylpropyl ammonium chloride. Packages of multiple wipes for a consumer's pocket, home, business or other uses are also discussed.
