An exercise apparatus to exercise the upper and lower body that is powered by a simulated rowing motion is described. The exercise apparatus includes a frame, front and rear wheels, a slide rail, a lever arm, a steering mechanism and a drive mechanism that translates the user's energy to propel the exercise apparatus. The rotation point of the lever arm, the fulcrum of the lever arm, the maximum distance the lever arm travels fore and aft, and the length of the lower portion of the lever arm, among others is adjustable to maximize efficiency or effectiveness of exercising the user's upper and lower body. Stabilizing members are attachable to the rear wheel axle, wherein the stabilizing members are adjustable to either elevate the rear wheel above the riding surface or provide stabilization to the extent required by the user.

Health exercise equipment propelled by simulated rowing motion

An exercise apparatus that is powered by a simulated rowing motion is described. The exercise apparatus includes a frame, slide rail, lever arm, steering mechanism and drive mechanism which together require the use of both the rider's upper and lower body muscles. A portion of the steering cables and drive mechanism are contained within a hollow portion of the lever arm. This containment provides added safety to the rider and reduces the likelihood of the cables or chain catching in either the clothing of the rider or objects the rider passes while riding the exercise apparatus. A stand is demountably engaged to the rear axle, providing the option of using the exercise apparatus as a stationary exercise machine.

A size adjustable athletic boot of a molded plastic or composite construction which is adjustable in length, width and height allowing three dimensional fit (3-D fit) for a variety of foot sizes. The boot has a base section and a tongue section which extends from a toe end of the base section. The tongue and base sections combine to define a variable volume foot space between them. A heel section telescopes over a rear end of the base section. The heel section has a heel surface which in combination with an upper surface of the base section defines a foot support surface. A cuff extends upward from a heel wall of the heel section. The cuff and a free end of the tongue section confront one another and define a foot entry opening between them. An adjustment mechanism is adapted to selectively position the heel section on the rear end of the base section to vary the length of the foot support surface relative to the length of a user's foot. An adjustable securing mechanism is adapted to adjust the foot entry opening and the foot space to conform to the user's foot and to releasably secure the user's foot within the 3-D fit boot.

The present invention is a wrist guard which has a molded body having its first end configured to contact a user's palm and a second end configured to engage the user's forearm. A thumb receiving member is located at a first side of the palm end of the wrist guard and is designed to prevent overextension of the thumb. The forearm portion stabilizes the wrist guard so it does not rotate. The first strap extends betweens the thumb covering and the opposing side of the first end of the palm and of the stiff body member. This strap is selectively adjustable to ensure proper fit. A second strap is located at the forearm end of the wrist guard. This strap, like the first strap, is selectively adjustable to ensure proper fit. The user will insert their thumb into the thumb receiving member and tighten the straps for securing the wrist guard.

Wrist guard

An anti-lock brake for in-line skates, skateboards, or the like. The brake is adapted to be selectively secured to the wheel frame proximate the rear wheel and comprises a pivoting tongue member engaging the circumference or ground engaging surface of the rear wheel when an integral braking skid pad is caused to firmly engage the ground. A resilient member resiliently inhibits the tongue member for engaging the rear wheel except during a severe braking operation. The skid pad remains the primary braking mechanism, and the tongue provides a second anti-lock braking mechanism. The tongue of the pivoting member has a concave surface closely conforming to the contour of the rear wheel to minimize tire wear, and further insures that wear does not distort the shape of the wheel. A large contact surface is established when the braking tongue engages the wheel to distribute the heat generated therebetween to reduce the chance of the wheel melting.

An improved skate assembly which permits interchanging and reversing of ice blades and in-line rollers. The arrangement provides for such interchange through utilization of a pair of rotatable cams which are utilized to couple the blade support to the toe and/or heel of the boot. Also, an interlocking notch/projection may be employed to achieve secure mounting of the blade support subassembly to the boot. Also disclosed is an attachment mechanism which can be used by the hands, and which requires no external tooling.

Convertible in-line roller skates

An improved skate assembly which permits interchange of ice blades and in-like rollers. The arrangement provides for such interchange through utilization of a rotatable cam which is utilized to couple the blade support to the toe and/or heel of the boot. Also, an interlocking notch/projection may be employed to achieve secure mounting of the blade support subassembly to the boot.

A skate assembly having front and rear attachment portions adapted to be incorporated into or attached respectively to the sole and heel of a boot; and an elongate sub-assembly including a molded polymeric frame having a lower portion in which an ice blade or wheel are mounted and spaced front and rear upper portions each having spaced side wall portions projecting from the lower portion. The upper portions can be releasably attached to the attachment portions by engaging longitudinal tongues on one of the portions in grooves in the other, and a fastening system is provided for retaining the portions with the tongues in the grooves in an engaged position.

A weight assembly adapted to be worn around a hand, wrist and forearm comprising a heavy metal hand stirrup like plate having a central portion adapted to generally cover and extend transversely across the back of the hand, and end portions projecting generally at right angles from opposite ends of its central portion a distance adapted to extend past the palm of the hand; and a tubular grip extending between the end portions adapted to be encircled by the fingers and thumb of the hand. A heavy metal forearm plate extends for a predetermined distance from the wrist longitudinally along the forearm and is attached to the first plate by a hinge having a single pivot axis along the wrist. A flexible cover envelopes the hand and forearm plates and the hinge; and includes a closure for releasably fastening the forearm plate to the forearm.

A skate having an interchangeable operative blade or wheel assembly that is releasably fastened to a shoe or boot in a manner affording the selective longitudinal displacement of the blade or wheel assembly with respect to the shoe, and the precise positioning of the blade or wheel assembly with respect to the shoe in order to optimize the performance of the skate for the skater.
