Systems and methods for improved liquid dispensing system communications are disclosed. In an example method for communicating control data between a plurality of component of a liquid dispensing system, a controller of a first component of a liquid dispensing system publishes a control data message to a composite controller associated with the plurality of component. Based on a classification of the control data message, a second component is determined to be a subscriber for the control data message. The composite controller then transmits the control data message to a controller of the second component.

Systems and methods for liquid dispensing system communications

A dispensing system includes a hot melt unit delivering heated adhesive through a hose to at least one dispenser gun, which is actuated by an outside source of gun actuation. Rather than directly connecting the source of gun actuation to the dispenser gun, the source of gun actuation is connected to the hot melt unit and then to the dispenser gun. For example, the gun actuation signals may be terminated at a terminal block in the hot melt unit, which enables the hot melt unit to monitor the gun actuation signals. The dispensing system is operable to perform various diagnostics pertaining to the dispenser gun and the system as a whole based on these monitored gun actuation signals.

Dispensing systems and methods for monitoring actuation signals for diagnostics

A method and apparatus for providing adjustment of current-related dispensing parameters in an electric dispensing gun. A control circuit receives user-selected inputs corresponding to dispensing parameters of the gun and converts those inputs into digital signals. The digital signals are applied to a digitally programmable driver circuit associated with the liquid dispensing gun to control at least some of the dispensing parameters of the gun. Diagnostic information pertinent to the operation of the dispensing gun is provided to the operator for evaluation and adjustment.

Apparatus and method for modifying operation of an electric gun driver

A controller for a hot melt adhesive dispensing system has a main circuit board and power modules which are removably received on a controller enclosure. The power modules are directly couplable with the main board and with cord sets from heated hoses of the dispensing system, eliminating the need for wiring harnesses to be routed between these components. Accordingly, the main board and power modules may be readily removed and replaced in the field to permit efficient servicing and modification of the system to accommodate the needs of various applications.

Modular controller for a hot melt adhesive dispensing system

A fluid dispensing apparatus for dispensing a viscous fluid from a source of viscous fluid onto a substrate. The dispensing apparatus includes an electrically operated, normally-opened, dispensing valve having an inlet in fluid communication with the source of fluid and a shut-off valve fluidly connected between the inlet of the dispensing valve and the source of viscous fluid. The shut-off valve has a normally-closed state interrupting fluid communication between the source of fluid and the inlet of the dispenser body, thereby inhibiting the normally-opened dispensing valve from dispensing fluid when power is removed from the dispensing apparatus.
