A protective cover for an insertion probe of a medical instrument. The cover contains a flexible tubular body that compliments the probe geometry and a radially disposed flange that surrounds the proximal end of the body. A series of snap-on fasteners removably connect the cover to the instrument. A camming surface is located on the outer face of the flange which coacts with a cam follower that is movably mounted upon the instrument to flex the cover sufficiently to open the fastener and release the cover from the instrument and move the cover axially toward the distal end of the tip.

IR thermometry probe cover

An instrument head is provided for attachment to a plurality of instrument handles having different power profiles. The instrument head contains an illumination assembly including at least one LED as well as a drive circuit for detecting a power profile of an attached instrument handle and converting variable voltages received from the attached instrument handle to a constant current for powering the at least one LED based on the power profile. Accordingly, the instrument head enables use with a plurality of instrument handles, including those originally configured for use only with incandescent light sources.

The adapter also includes a seal configured to form a substantially fluid-tight seal with a surface of a fitting removably attachable to the adapter.

A vital signs monitor includes a subject wearable first cleat having a first sensor opening and a pair of laterally spaced apart first electrodes. The monitor also includes a subject wearable second cleat having a pair of laterally spaced apart second electrodes. An equipment housing is removably attached to or attachable to the first and second cleats. The housing has a first sensor pocket which registers with the first sensor opening. A vital signs monitor includes an equipment housing defining an equipment compartment, a circuit assembly and a battery residing inside the equipment compartment, an electrical connector forming a connection between the battery assembly and the circuit assembly, and a battery discharge circuit. A retainer joined to the equipment housing retains the battery assembly in the housing. The retainer is separable from the housing so that its separation causes a break in the electrical connection and activates the discharge circuit.

A planetary wheel drive uses: main bushings affixed to a rotatable housing between a stationary spindle permitting the rotatable output housing to rotate with respect to the stationary spindle, and, planet bushings affixed to rotatable planet gear between a planet pin permitting the planet gear to rotate with respect to the planet pin. The main bushings have two sides, a first side which is press fit into the rotatable output housing and a second side which includes a sliding layer which mates with a surface of the stationary housing.

A planetary wheel drive uses a single wall output planet carrier includes an internal spline fixed against rotation through an interconnection with an external spline of the stationary spindle. A locking lug of the single wall output planet carrier extends into a notch of a bearing nut. The locking lug prevents the bearing nut from unthreading itself from the stationary spindle. An output planet thrust plate is bolted to an output planet pin.
