Entities such as hotels, restaurants, resorts, houses, vehicles, and other places and things, are associated with images of each entity. The images are tagged using machine learning to identify what aspects of the associated entity are captured by each image. When a user is requested to select an entity from a set of entities, a user preference model is used to determine what tags the user is interested in. The tags are used to select images associated with the entities from the set of entities, and the selected images are displayed to the user. The user can then provide indicators that show which of the displayed images the user likes or dislikes. Based on the indicators, one or more entities from the set of entities is presented to the user. The model may also be updated based on the indicators.

System and method for recommending entities based on interest indicators

Embodiments relate to efficiently viewing data items in a three-dimensional (3D) space. The 3D space includes a curved surface that is concave with respect to a user-controlled viewpoint in the 3D space. The viewpoint is for controlling the direction and location of a rendered view of the 3D space. The data items have respective values associated therewith. The data items are arranged on the surface according to their values so that a user's ease of viewing the data items varies with their values; data items with some values may be arranged to be easier to view by manipulating the view direction than others (e.g., those with lower values). Ease of viewing can stem from how the surface is oriented relative to the viewpoint, the orientation of the curvature of the surface, the orientation of a controlling reference orientation, alignment of the data items on the surface, etc.

A server system is provided that includes one or more processors configured to receive an intra-route navigation error package including a plurality of route context data from a user computer device. The intra-route navigation error package indicates that a navigation error occurred at a geospatial location. The one or more processors are further configured to send, to the user computing device, a detailed feedback package configured to cause the user computer device to display a feedback interface at a later point in time when a user of the user computer device is not traveling. The detailed feedback package includes a route context determined based on the plurality of route context data and configured to be presented to the user via the feedback interface. The one or more processors are further configured to determine a map correction for a map database based on user input of detailed feedback.

Techniques are shown for changing input assignments of an input device controls for a first application while leaving assignments unchanged for other applications. When a first application is active, a first input action is registered from activation of an input control selected for mode control. In response, when an input mode of the first application corresponds to standard device mapping inputs, the input mode is changed to an input mode corresponding to an alternate device mapping inputs assigned to a subset of input controls. When the first application is in alternate device mapping mode, input control activations are registered according to the alternate device mapping actions. When a second application is active, input control activations are registered according to the standard input mapping actions.

Application specific adaption of user input assignments for input devices

Example apparatus and methods concern dynamically expiring crowd-sourced content (CSC) in a crowd-sourced database. An example apparatus may include logic for acquiring the CSC, where the CSC is data produced by a mobile device concerning a point of interest. The example apparatus also includes logic for producing an evaluation of the CSC and logic for determining an expiration criteria based on the CSC, the evaluation, and the user. The CSC may be data about a point of interest. The evaluation may be based on the completeness, timeliness, or contents of the CSC. The expiration criteria may be established based on the evaluation of the CSC and a user profile. The expiration criteria or user profile may be manipulated based on confirmation or repudiation of the CSC by a different user or by curation of the CSC.

Dynamically expiring crowd-sourced content

Dynamically magnifying search results and enabling motion-based review of the search results. The user enters a query to search the content of a document. As the characters of the query are entered by the user, the search results are identified and magnified such that all the search results after any given input character are visible in the user interface. The user advances through the search results by moving the computing device in a predefined manner. In an embodiment, the user searches the content of a web page rendered in a browser executing on a mobile computing device such as a telephone.

Motion-based data review and zoom

Maintaining a plurality of search contexts and selecting one of the search contexts based on graphical properties of a user interface. Each of the search contexts is provided by and corresponds to one of a plurality of executing application programs. Responsive to an event, one of the search contexts is selected. In some embodiments, the search context provided by the application program having a window displayed in the foreground of the user interface is selected. Search results based on the selected search context are obtained and provided to the user.
