A system for controlling work vehicles used for towing agricultural implements across a field includes an implement controller supported on and configured to control an operation of an agricultural implement, and at least one sensor communicatively coupled to the implement controller. The sensor(s) is configured to provide an indication of a location of the agricultural implement within the field. The implement controller is configured to: access a field map; anticipate a change in loading of one or more of the ground-engaging tools of the implement based on the location of the implement relative to the field map; and transmit a request instructing a vehicle controller of a work vehicle towing the agricultural implement to initiate a control action associated with adjusting at least one vehicle-related operational parameter to accommodate the anticipated change.

System and method for controlling operation of a work vehicle towing an agricultural implement

In one aspect, a system for monitoring operational parameters associated with a tillage implement may include a first sensor configured to detect data indicative of a first distance between an implement frame forward of a ground engaging tool and a soil surface prior to engagement of the soil by the tool. The system may also include a second sensor configured to detect data indicative of a second distance between the frame aft of the tool and the soil surface following engagement of the soil by the tool. A controller of the system may be configured to determine a soil density change caused by engagement of the soil by the tool based on the first and second distances. Furthermore, the controller may be configured to determine a penetration depth of the tool based at least in part on the determined change in the soil density.

System and method for monitoring operational parameters associated with a tillage implement during the performance of a field operation

A method for controlling a work vehicle towing an agricultural implement across a field during a tillage operation includes receiving one or more soil compaction parameters of the field, the work vehicle, and/or the implement. The method also includes determining one or more soil compaction levels for the field based on the one or more soil compaction parameters. Further, the method includes determining an estimated yield loss for each location in the field based on the one or more soil compaction levels. Moreover, the method includes generating a prescription map for the field based on the estimated yield loss for each location in the field. In addition, the method includes actively adjusting at least one tillage parameter of at least one of the implement or the work vehicle based on the prescription map during the tillage operation to reduce an actual yield loss of the field.

System and method for generating a prescription map for an agricultural implement based on soil compaction

A method for reducing material accumulation relative to ground-engaging tools of a tillage implement includes receiving measurement signals from at least one accumulation sensor mounted to the tillage implement during a tillage operation. The measurement signals include a three-dimensional (3D) representation of an environment containing material accumulation relative to a plurality ground-engaging tools. The method also includes estimating an amount of material accumulation relative to the plurality of ground-engaging tools based on the 3D representation. Further, the method includes comparing the amount of material accumulation to an accumulation threshold. The material accumulation threshold is indicative of a given degree of material accumulation relative to the plurality of ground-engaging tools. Thus, based on the comparison between the amount of material accumulation and the accumulation threshold, the method includes controlling an operation of at least one component of the tillage implement to execute a control action for reducing the amount of the material accumulation.

System and method for monitoring material accumulation relative to ground-engaging tools of a tillage implement

In one aspect, the present subject matter is directed to a method for maintaining a desired amount of residue coverage in a field during a tillage operation. The method includes generating, with a computing device, an available residue map that includes an amount of available residue at each location of the field using a yield map and/or crop biomass. The method also includes generating, with the computing device, a desired residue coverage map that includes a desired amount of residue coverage for each location within the field. Further, the method includes determining, with the computing device, an amount of residue that needs to be incorporated into the surface of the field based on the available residue map and the desired residue coverage map. Moreover, the method includes generating, with the computing device, a prescription map for the field based on a correlation between a tillage parameter of one or more ground-engaging tools of the implement and the amount of residue that needs to be incorporated into the surface of the field. In addition, the method includes controlling the tillage parameter based on the prescription map during the tillage operation to maintain the desired amount of residue coverage at each of the locations in the field.

System and method for generating a prescription map for an agricultural implement based on yield map and/or crop biomass

Each robotic agricultural machine including at least one controller configured to implement a plurality of finite state machines within an individual robot control architecture (IRCA) and a global information module (GIM) communicatively coupled to the IRCA. The GIMs of the first and second robotic agricultural machines being configured to cooperate to cause said first robotic agricultural machine and said second agricultural machine to perform at least one agricultural task.

An improved baler and a method of using the improved baler to produce high density bales. The baler comprises a pick-up assembly configured to pick-up crop material; a compression assembly comprising at least one pair of opposing compression rollers configured to generate a pressure on the crop material sufficient to crush the nodes as it passes between the compression rollers; and a bale chamber, wherein the crushed crop forms a bale. The compression rollers define an adjustable gap therebetween. By adjusting the gap, a pressure sufficient to crush the nodes of the crop may be exerted on the crop material as it passes between the compression rollers may be controlled, resulting in bales of higher density than conventional bales.
