A frame having a perimeter defines a planar opening. A set of louvers may span from a first edge of the opening to a second edge of the opening. Each louver may be capable of rotating between a closed position and an open position. A set of physical obstructions may prevent the louvers from rotating beyond the open position. Each louver may be offset from the planar opening by a first acute angle when in a closed position, and by a second, larger, acute angle when in the open position. A flow of air in a first direction through the opening may rotate the set of louvers to the closed position. A flow air in the opposite direction through the opening may rotate the set of louvers to the open position such that the flow of air in the opposite direction moves freely through the opening.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems directed to a circuit board assembly configured for parallel plugged card removal are disclosed. A circuit board assembly includes a main circuit board configured to dock an expansion card in a parallel arrangement, at least two circuit board connectors disposed on a surface of the main circuit board and operable to receive respective plug connectors of the expansion card, and a pivoting assembly comprising a plurality of lever arms, the pivoting assembly being coupled to main circuit board such that a first circuit board connector is disposed between a first pair of lever arms and a second circuit board connector is disposed between a second pair of lever arms, wherein a force applied to the pivoting assembly in direction approaching the main circuit board is translated to a force applied by each lever arm in direction away from the main circuit board.

A server rack according to one embodiment includes a sidewall defining an interior, an aperture in the sidewall, and a retractable terminal horizontally positionable between a retracted position and an extended position. The retractable terminal is positioned in the interior when in the retracted position. The retractable terminal is configured to extend through the aperture of the sidewall. The retractable terminal includes a base frame and a pivoting frame pivotally coupled to the base frame. The pivoting frame is configured to receive at least a display. The pivoting frame is positionable between an undeployed position and a deployed position relative to the base frame when the retractable terminal is in the extended position. The pivoting frame is about parallel to the base frame when in the undeployed position. The pivoting frame is oriented at least 30 degrees from the base frame when in the deployed position.

A method and apparatuses are provided for removing a cold plate assembly from an electronics enclosure. The apparatus includes a chassis configured to be placed on the electronics housing in an aligned manner. The chassis includes a plurality of brackets disposed on the chassis. The respective ones of the plurality of brackets are configured to be attached to respective electrical components in the electronics housing. The respective ones of the plurality of brackets are also configured to be disposed on the chassis at locations corresponding to the locations of the respective electrical components within the electronics housing when the chassis is aligned with the electronics housing. The respective ones of the plurality of brackets are also configured to selectively movable between a first orientation and a second orientation. The respective brackets are closer to the respective electrical components in the first orientation than in the second orientation.

Installation tool for flexible elements

In one general embodiment, a server rack is provided. The server rack includes a sidewall having at least one fixed rail, and an aperture in the sidewall. Further, the server rack includes a retractable terminal configured to extend through the aperture of the sidewall on sliding rails configured to slide along the at least one fixed rail in a direction parallel to the sidewall. In another general embodiment, a server rack is provided. The server rack includes a sidewall and an aperture in the sidewall. The server rack also includes a first fixed rail within the sidewall, a second fixed rail within the sidewall, a retractable terminal configured to extend through the aperture of the sidewall on sliding rails configured to slide along the first and second fixed rails, and an immovable cable bracket mounted on one of the fixed rails for holding a cable extending from the retractable terminal.

Modular elements removable from enclosures and employing cams forming detent features with latches are disclosed. A modular element may include a chassis body supporting electronic components. The modular element is removable from or secured to an enclosure using a latch. The latch may engage the enclosure and may remain engaged with the enclosure by being secured by interfacing with a cam. By forming the cam with a predetermined shape, a detent feature may be established with the latch to secure the latch and maintain the modular element locked to the enclosure. The latch may be disengaged from the cam by applying a disengagement motion to the cam and allow the latch to move relative to the chassis body and disengage from the enclosure. In this manner, the modular element is efficiently secured and removed from the enclosure with minimum obstruction to airflow to the electronic components.

Modular enclosure elements employing cams forming detent features with latches

A method for securing and removing modular elements employing latches is disclosed. A modular element may include a chassis body supporting electronic components. The body is in communication with a latch and a control member of the modular element. The modular element is removable from or secured to an enclosure using the latch. The latch may engage the enclosure and may remain engaged by being secured by interfacing with a catch of an arm of the control member. By connecting the arm to the control body with a living hinge, the living hinge may urge the catch into a detent of the latch to secure the latch and keep the modular element secured to the enclosure. The latch may be disengaged from the control member by applying a disengagement force to remove the catch from the detent. In this manner, the modular element is efficiently secured and removed from the enclosure.

Method for securing and removing modular elements employing latches

Modular elements employing latches with flexure bearings are disclosed. A modular element may include a chassis body supporting electronic components. The body is in communication with a latch and a control member of the modular element. The modular element is removable from or secured to an enclosure using the latch. The latch may engage the enclosure and may remain engaged by being secured by interfacing with a catch of an arm of the control member. By connecting the arm to the control body with a flexure bearing, the flexure bearing may urge the catch into a detent of the latch to secure the latch and keep the modular element secured to the enclosure. The latch may be disengaged from the control member by removing the catch from the detent. In this manner, the modular element is efficiently secured and removed from the enclosure.

Modular elements employing latches with flexure bearings

A heat exchanger door and heat exchanger core optimization method are provided. The door resides at an air inlet or outlet side of an electronics rack, and includes an air-to-coolant heat exchanger with a heat exchanger core. The core includes a first coolant channel coupled to a coolant inlet manifold downstream from a second coolant channel, and the first channel has a shorter channel length than the second channel. Further, coolant channels of the core are coupled to provide counter-flow cooling of an airflow passing across the core. The core optimization method determines at least one combination of parameters that optimize for a particular application at least two performance metrics of the heat exchanger. This method includes obtaining performance metrics for boundary condition(s) of possible heat exchanger configurations with different variable parameters to determine a combination of parameters that optimize the performance metrics for the heat exchanger.

Process for optimizing a heat exchanger configuration

A shelf device facilitates access to electronic modules within an enclosure having multiple vertically stacked levels of module storage locations. A pair of support arms each have an attachment structure on a distal portion of the support arm that is designed to attach to a first one of the vertically stacked levels. A guide rail extends from the distal portion of the support arm toward a proximal portion of the support arm. A cross brace structure is configured to pivotally attach to distal portions of the pair of support arms and a proximal portion of a first one of the support arms. A pair of vertical braces are each configured to pivotally attach to a respective one of the pair of support arms and having a detachable connection structure that is designed to attach to a second one of the vertically stacked levels.

Modular elements employing latches secured by linkages are disclosed. A modular element may include a chassis body in communication with a latch, control body, and control arm of the modular element. The modular element is removable from or secured to an enclosure using the latch. The latch may remain secured to the enclosure in a locked mode by being rotated to engage a control catch of a control arm of a linkage. By connecting the control arm to the control body with a rigid member connected to the control body with first and second rotary joints, the rigid member transforms a control body movement into a rotary motion of the control arm to disengage the control arm from the latch. In this manner, the modular element may be disengaged from the enclosure to facilitate upgrades or maintenance of electronic components supported by the chassis body.
