An exemplary method adjusts one or operating characteristics of an oxygen utilizing system based on atmospheric oxygen content. The method includes detecting, using one or more atmospheric sensors, atmospheric conditions for an atmosphere surrounding the oxygen utilizing system and determining the atmospheric oxygen content based on the detected atmospheric conditions. The method further includes adjusting the one or more operating characteristics of the oxygen utilizing system based on the atmospheric oxygen content.

An additive deposition system and method, the system including generating an aerosol of additive material that is charged and deposited onto a selectively charged substrate. Selectively charging the substrate includes uniformly charging a surface of the substrate, selectively removing charged from the substrate to create charged and neutral regions of the substrate surface. Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for accurate, field-ready, non-destructive, and three-dimensional plant root characterization using acoustic signals. The system is portable, fast, precise, and can be used in field conditions, including moist soil, to visualize root structure or mass distribution, without damaging growing crops. The system may also be applied to characterize other underground objects, such as pipes, building foundations, archaeological artifacts, or mineral ores. During operation, the system generates a source acoustic signal. The system sends the source acoustic signal to an actuator acoustically coupled directly to a plant. The system obtains a response acoustic signal from an underground transducer monitoring a root of the plant. The system analyzes the response acoustic signal according to a model and based on the source acoustic signal. The system then determines, based on the analyzed response acoustic signal, a physical configuration of the plant root.

Method and system for in situ measurement of root biomass and structure using acoustic waves

Disclosed herein are implementations of a radiative cooling formulation, an apparatus including a substrate coated with the radiative cooling formulation, and a method of applying a coating of the radiative cooling formulation to an object. In one implementation, a radiative cooling formulation includes a binder which includes a first polymer and a second polymer that are practically water insoluble and are substantially non-absorbing to light having wavelengths in a solar spectrum. The radiative cooling formulation further includes a solar reflector material embedded in the binder.

A system of sensor nodes is combined with an RF hub that transmits RF power to the sensors and receives data therefrom. The sensor nodes contain: one or more sensors for measuring indoor conditions, an antenna, an energy storage element, and electronics for powering the system via harvesting RF energy, reading sensor data, and communicating sensor data. The sensors, antenna, and other components on the nodes can be fabricated conventionally, or via printing. They may be fabricated as 'flexible hybrid electronics', in which conventional components are bonded onto flexible substrates. The RF hub consists of one or more antennas capable of transmitting RF power electronics for steering the center of radiation of the RF power in at least one direction or in more than one direction electronics for receiving a demodulating RF data signal. The RF hub may be powered directly from the building.

Inline methods for forming a photovoltaic cell electrode structure, wherein the photovoltaic cell includes a semiconductor substrate having a passivation layer thereon, includes providing a plurality of contact openings through the passivation layer to the semiconductor substrate, selectively plating a contact metal into the plurality of contact openings by printing electroless plating solution into the plurality of contact openings to deposit the contact metal, depositing a metal containing material on the deposited contact metal, and firing the deposited contact metal and the deposited metal containing material. The metal containing material may include a paste containing a silver or silver alloy along with a glass frit and is substantially free to completely free of lead. The methods may also use light activation of the passivation layer or use seed layers to assist in the plating.

Solar cell metallization using inline electroless plating

Provided is a standalone integrated water treatment system for a distributed water supply including a filter input, a coagulation system in operative connection with the filter input, wherein the water is subjected to a coagulation process to create pin floc from suspensions in the water. A maturation buffer tank in operative connection with the coagulation system aggregates floc in size within the water. A spiral separator separates the water into two water streams, a first stream of water having most of the floc removed, and a second stream of water which includes a concentrated amount of the floc. An optional filtration system is configured to receive the first stream of water and perform a filtration operation thereon. A sterilization system is configured to perform a sterilization operation on the first stream of water. The water is then output from the sterilization system as potable water.
