A brake assembly for use in a disc brake mechanism of a vehicle. The brake assembly includes an aluminum ceramic composite rotor connected to a central aluminum hub. The rotor includes projections extending radially inward toward the hub and engaging with through holes in the hub. The projections extend through the through holes to connect the rotor to the hub. The engagement between the projections and the through holes allows for radial movement of the projections relative to the through holes, which radial movement may be caused by thermal expansion of the rotor from heat generated during a breaking operation.

Aluminum ceramic composite brake assembly

A brake pedal assembly installation method includes installing a brake operation simulator to a lower part of a dashboard; pivotally mounting a brake pedal arm to a mounting feature associated with brake operation simulator; providing an elastic member with first and second free ends that are normally biased toward one another; securing the first free end of the elastic member to a yoke mounted to an end portion of the push rod; extending the elastic member and securing the second free end of the extended elastic member to the brake pedal arm; aligning an opening on the brake pedal arm with an opening on the yoke; and inserting a lock pin through the openings of the brake pedal arm and the yoke to secure the yoke to the brake pedal arm.

Brake pedal assembly and installation method

A disc brake rotor includes a core including a hat-shaped section, an annular inboard mounting surface, and an annular outboard mounting surface axially spaced from the inboard mounting surface and connected to the inboard mounting surface. The hat-shaped section has a central mounting face and a cylindrical shoulder extending from a periphery of the mounting face. The outboard mounting surface has an interior peripheral edge radially spaced from the shoulder, and the inboard mounting surface has an interior peripheral edge engaged to the shoulder. An inboard friction ring includes radially extending first projections secured to the inboard mounting surface. The outboard friction ring includes radially extending second projections secured to the outboard mounting surface. The first projections are angularly aligned with the second projections. The first and second projections extend into the space between the inboard and outboard mounting surfaces and have a gap therebetween.

High performance disc brake rotor

Some embodiments are directed to a duct assembly for cooling a brake assembly of a vehicle. The duct assembly can include a hollow inlet section that is disposed at the vehicle sub-frame and configured to capture air from beneath the vehicle sub-frame; and a hollow intermediate section that communicates with the inlet section so as to form a contiguous channel therewith. The intermediate section can be disposed entirely within the vehicle sub-frame. A hollow outlet section can communicate with the intermediate section so as to form a contiguous channel between the inlet, intermediate and outlet sections. The outlet section can be disposed and configured to direct the air captured by the inlet section to the front end of the brake assembly to thereby cool at least a portion of the brake assembly.
