Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment, a multi-lumen shaft may be used to with an endoscopic instrument.

Multi-lumen shaft used with endoscopic device

A surgically implanted occluding assembly comprises an implant body having a longitudinally split generally 'C'-shaped cross-section tube circumscribing an anatomical lumen. In one embodiment, the surgically implanted occluding assembly is a male continence device selectively occluding a urethra. In some embodiments an occluding magnet is rigidly affixed with the implant body, and an external selective occlusion control assembly is used to selectively activate the surgically implanted occluding assembly. The external assembly has a magnet, and body supporting the magnet. The external selective occlusion control assembly is configured to be selectively placed and retained adjacent to the surgically implanted occluding assembly. In some embodiments, a bi-stable spring longer than and spanning the longitudinal split in the implant body has a first stable anatomical lumen occluding position curved into an interior of the longitudinal split, and a second stable anatomical lumen open position curved outward exterior of the longitudinally split tube.

Male continence device

A system for use with an endoscopic device. The system can include a shaft having a proximal end, a distal end, and at least one output port, wherein a portion of the shaft is surrounded by a single polyurethane expandable material, wherein the polyurethane expandable material is expandable from a diameter of at least approximately 5.0 mm to a diameter of approximately 25 mm. The system can also include a manifold connected to the proximal end of the shaft, the manifold including one or more fluid coupling ports for receiving an injected fluid, wherein at least one of the one or more fluid coupling ports is in fluid communication with the at least one output port and wherein when received, the system is configured to convey the injected fluid from the manifold to the shaft resulting, at least in part, in expanding the polyurethane expandable material.

A system for facilitating fluid connection between cannulae and a blood pump. The system includes a cannula having proximal and distal ends. The distal end of the cannula adapted to be in fluid communication with the circulatory system. The proximal end of the cannula configured to couple to an inlet of the blood pump. The system further includes a tunneling device configured to be inserted into a body of a patient to direct the proximal end of the cannula adjacent to the inlet for connection thereto. The cannula further includes a first connecting structure. The tunneling device further includes a second connecting structure. The first and second connecting structures are selectively engageable to allow connection and disconnection between the cannula and tunneling device.

System and method of facilitating connection between cannulae and a blood pump

A cannula assembly for directing blood from the heart of a patient and a minimally invasive method of implanting the same. The cannula assembly includes a flexible cannula body having a proximal end and a distal end with a receiving portion, and a transseptal tip having a distal end and a proximal end with an engaging portion. First and second anchors are coupled to the transseptal tip and configured to be deployed from a contracted state to an expanded state. The engaging portion of the transseptal tip is operable to removably engage the receiving portion of the flexible cannula body in vivo.

Two-piece transseptal cannula, delivery system, and method of delivery

Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment, a tool for use with an endoscopic procedure comprises an expandable thermoplastic polyurethane vessel. The expandable vessel may be fused to a shaft and may be configured to receive a fluid from the shaft. The shaft may comprise a distal port and a proximal port configured to dispense a dye material exterior to the expandable vessel.

A cannula assembly, further comprising a cannula body for directing blood from the heart of a patient, having distal and proximal ends and a lumen therebetween. A tip coupled to the distal end of the body, the tip having an opening. A pump for drawing blood into the cannula assembly and dispensing the blood from the cannula assembly and into the patient circulatory system. The lumen of the cannula body further comprises a first inner diameter at the proximal end and a second inner diameter at the distal end, the first inner diameter being larger than the second inner diameter. A tapered portion defined as a decrease in inner diameter from the first inner diameter to the second inner diameter between the proximal and distal ends, the tapered portion configured to prevent cavitation of the blood within the cannula.
