Switchgear which combines a visible disconnect switch and a circuit breaker or interrupter capable of interrupting fault currents. The switchgear includes a carriage and a switch actuator connected to the carriage for moving the carriage between a switch-closed position and a switch-open position. A circuit breaker module includes circuit breaker contacts, as well as first and second contactor terminals. The circuit breaker module provides selective electrical connection between the contactor terminals depending on the state of the circuit breaker contacts. A fixed disconnect switch contact us attached to or comprises one of the first and second contactor terminals, and a movable disconnect switch contact is mounted to the carriage so as to move with the carriage. The fixed disconnect switch contact and the movable disconnect switch contact are positioned for selective engagement with each other as the carriage moves to the switch-closed position.

Vacuum interrupter and linear disconnect switch

Equipment including an assembly structure defining an interior, and including a panel and a viewing window in the panel. An electro-mechanical operating device is located within the interior. The electro-mechanical operating device has at least two visually-distinguishable operational states, and is positioned such that the operational state of the electro-mechanical operating device can be visually observed through the viewing window. An illumination device within the interior emits light of at least two different colors corresponding to the at least two visually-distinguishable operational states of the electro-mechanical operating device. Electrical circuitry includes a switch for sensing the operational state of the electro-mechanical operating device and connected for controlling the illumination device.

Illumination and visual indicator

A blown fuse detector of the general type which monitors voltage drop across a fuse. Embodiments of the invention in particular are applicable to medium voltage AC fuse circuits, operating within the approximate voltage range 2,400 to 38,000 volts. The blown-fuse detector includes first and second electrical connection structures for electrically connecting the first and second conductor portions to the first and second fuse terminals, respectively. A voltage differential detector circuit has first and second differential inputs and is operable to generate a detector output when the voltage across the differential inputs exceeds a predetermined of threshold voltage. First and second capacitors capacitively couple the first and second electrical connection structures to the first and second differential inputs, respectively, the capacitors serving as capacitively-coupled voltage sensors.

Blown fuse detector

A disconnect mechanism, an electrical component assembly including the disconnect mechanism, and an electrical circuit protector in turn including the electrical component assembly. The disconnect mechanism includes a carriage, as well as a switch actuator connected to the carriage for moving the carriage between a switch-closed position and a switch-open position. A contactor is mounted to the carriage so as to move with the carriage, the contactor including first and second contactor terminals and providing selective electrical connection between the contactor terminals. A movable disconnect switch contact is connected to the first contactor terminal, and is movable with the carriage and the contactor. A fixed disconnect switch contact is positioned for selective engagement with the movable disconnect switch contact as the carriage moves to the switch-closed position.

Racking contactor

A circuit breaker module (which may also be termed an interrupter) including circuit breaker contacts which are opened and closed by an electrically-activated magnetic actuator and capable of interrupting fault currents. The magnetic actuator is stable in either a breaker-closed state or a breaker-open state without requiring electrical current flow through the magnetic actuator. An externally-connectable mechanical drive is linked to the magnetic actuator in a manner such that movement of the externally-connectable mechanical drive can destabilize the breaker-closed state to open the circuit breaker contacts. An external actuator activated by an external condition is connected to said externally-connectable mechanical drive so as to cause said circuit breaker contacts to open upon occurrence of the external condition.

Circuit breaker remote tripping

A draw-out control compartment including a drawer housing open opposite a drawer housing rear wall to define a front opening. A control component support structure is received within the drawer housing and supported on drawer slides. A cable storage compartment is adjacent a rear wall of the drawer housing on the exterior side thereof, and opens into the housing interior. A control cable is attached to the control component support structure and extends into the cable storage compartment. The control cable has a length which permits the drawer-like control component support structure to be pulled out of the drawer housing with the control cable remaining attached, with excess length of the control cable when the control component support structure is all the way within the drawer housing being stored within the cable storage compartment.

Draw out control compartment

Electrical switchgear which combines, connected electrically in series, a visible disconnect switch (operated by a main switch actuator) and a circuit breaker module (which may also be termed an interrupter) including circuit breaker contacts which are opened and closed by an electrically-activated magnetic actuator and capable of interrupting fault currents. The magnetic actuator is stable in either a breaker-closed state or a breaker-open state without requiring electrical current flow through the magnetic actuator. An interlock is provided such that, as the main switch actuator begins to move from its switch-closed position to its switch-open position, the breaker-closed state is destabilized to open the circuit breaker contacts. An interlock is also provided such that the circuit breaker contacts cannot close while the visible disconnect switch is open.
