A storage, display and dispensing apparatus for tickets of various sizes that accounts for the tickets dispensed during a selected time period. The apparatus includes a bin housing for storing a pack of tickets, a ticket dispensing assembly through which the tickets are dispensed and includes a friction wheel assembly that is actuated as tickets pass through the ticket dispensing assembly. An optical sensing element is also employed to sense indicia on the tickets to coact with the friction wheel assembly to provide a ticket count.

A multi-contact LCD heater system which include several contacts disposed around the periphery of a resistive film deposited on a substrate in which each contact is dynamically controlled in response to input from various temperature sensors. The control allows for each contact to be connected to a high potential or a low potential source or remain isolated. Spatial, temporal and amplitude modulation of the heat applied to the LCD is achieved.

Dynamic multi-contact display heater system

A backlighting system for use in generating collimated light for illuminating LCD matrices. The system includes a plurality of lenses arranged in an array on one side of a planar substrate, a plurality of luminescent phosphor dots located on the opposite side of the substrate from the lenses at the focal points of the lens and a mechanism for stimulating the phosphor dots to emit light. The phosphor dots may be responsive to ultraviolet light in which case a fluorescent lamp adapted for emitting ultraviolet light may be used to stimulate the dots to emit visible light. The visible light is then collimated by the lenses and directed for backlighting a display matrix.

A method and apparatus for drawing high quality lines on color matrix displays wherein a line segment is created by activating a series of linear elements substantially centered about the predetermined line segment position and providing for various intensities for each element, the notion of a pixel group is completely discarded and each individual display element is individually addressed and individually assigned an intensity depending upon the predetermined line segment to be displayed and the orientation of that line segment wherein the method comprises generating element intensity, position and line slope information for a given line segment; inverting and registering the element intensity information; centering an array of elements around the element position information; determining the color of elements in the array of elements; determining the proper intensity for each element in the array of elements in order to produce the predetermined position of the line; and providing the proper intensity for each element and the array of elements in order to provide the proper line color.

Method and apparatus for drawing high quality lines on color matrix

The speed at which a display screen is updated is increased by updating only those areas of the screen that have changed since the last update. This is accomplished by dividing the screen display elements into a grid of contiguous areas, and defining those areas which changing video information as unprotected areas and other areas as protected areas. As new images are generated, the memory containing information displayed in the protected areas is protected from updating while that in the unprotected area is not protected.

A multichannel moving map display for high speed aircraft which utilizes a scrolling image memory which is arranged logically in an N+1.times.N+1 geometric array of memory cells and having an N.times.N active area for scanning by an image processor and a 2N+1 memory cell buffer area for loading updating information into the image memory and later redefining the active and buffer areas in order to allow for updating to occur.

A multichannel moving map display having a first channel for processing of background geographical data and inputting said process data into a display memory for scanning by a display and a second channel for generating cultural features and storing the same in a second display memory for scanning by the display. A dual bank display memory concept is disclosed for both the first and second display memories.
