One embodiment provides a method for stimulating hydrocarbon production in a subterranean formation, comprising: introducing a peroxide-generating compound into a desired location in a subterranean formation, wherein the peroxide-generating compound is substantially mechanically isolated from the subterranean formation until the peroxide-generating compound reaches the desired location; and allowing the peroxide-generating compound to generate peroxide in the desired location in the subterranean formation. Another embodiment provides a method for stimulating hydrocarbon production in a subterranean formation, comprising: introducing a peroxide-generating compound into a desired location in a subterranean formation, wherein the peroxide-generating compound further comprises a chemical moderator that acts to inhibit the reaction of the hydrogen peroxide within the subterranean formation; and later, allowing the peroxide-generating compound to generate peroxide in the desired location in the subterranean formation. Another embodiment provides a treatment fluid for stimulating hydrocarbon production from a subterranean formation, comprising peroxide-generating compound and a moderator.

Methods and compositions for the in-situ thermal stimulation of hydrocarbons using peroxide-generating compounds

This invention relates to two apparatus and one method for use in spooling composite coiled tubing onto a coiled tubing reel. One apparatus includes the modification of tubing reel cores currently in common use by the direct adhesion of a compliant material to the hub. Another apparatus modifies the commonly used tubing reel hub by affixing several panels concentric to the hub and mounted on compression springs. The method entails the pressurization of the composite coiled tubing prior to spooling onto the tubing reel, and subsequently releasing the pressure within the composite tubing after it has been spooled onto the tubing reel. Both apparatus and the method protect the reel core by absorbing or eliminating the radially inward forces of the composite tubing resulting from the pressurization and corresponding contraction in length of the spooled composite coiled tubing.

An end connector for fuse with composite coiled tubing for use in downhole wellbore operations is disclosed. The connector comprises intermediate portions of first and second end portions connected thereto. The first end portion has threads defined thereon to mate with threads defined on the inner surface of the composite coiled tubing. The outer surface of the end connector is flush with the outer surface of a composite coiled tubing when connected thereto. The connector has a means for providing a seal between the end connector and the composite coiled tubing and is adapted to be connected to apparatus, tools and equipment used in downhole wellbore operations in which coiled tubing is utilized.

A control system is provided which can be retrofit to existing conventional blender devices, such as a blender trailer used for combining a pregelled liquid with a solid particulate additive at a well site. The control is provided either manually or automatically from a remote location where a display unit and a computer unit of the invention are located, such as in a frac van. The display unit and the computer unit are connected together by a multi-conductor cable, and the display unit is connected by a multi-conductor cable to a terminal unit mounted on the blender. Control signals are output from the display unit, under automatic control by the computer unit or under manual control by potentiometers attached to the display unit, to control electrohydraulic valves associated with screw conveyors mounted on the blender. Linear variable differential transformer signals from the electrohydraulic valves, rotational speed signals from the screw conveyors, and flow rate signals from the inlet pregelled liquid are communicated to the display unit for use by it and the computer unit in generating the valve control signals.

An angular displacement indicating apparatus includes internal and external magnets disposed so that the external magnet tracks the internal magnet when a shaft to which the internal magnet is connected rotates. The external magnet is connected to a rotary variable differential transformer, for example, so that the external magnet moves from a null position in response to rotation of the internal shaft thereby causing the transformer to generate an electrical signal proportional to the angle of rotation of the shaft. Embodiments of the invention include external connecting mechanisms which can be moved to physically indicate the actual angle of deflection of the internal shaft.
