A group routing server, communication devices, and related methods are described. The group routing server may comprise a processor operably coupled with communication elements and memory, and be configured to determine a destination communication device from among a plurality of communication devices to which an incoming call is to be routed, determine whether an assistive communication service is needed for providing interpretive services based, at least in part, on differing communication abilities between a far-end user associated with a far-end communication device initiating the incoming call and a near-end user associated with the destination communication device, route the incoming call to the assistive communication service according to the routing rules if the assistive communication device is determined to be needed, and route the incoming call directly to the communication service according to the routing rules if the assistive communication device is not determined to be needed.

Communication systems, communication devices, and related methods for routing calls between communication devices having users with different abilities

A method of device to device communication is provided. The method may include obtaining a request for a communication session at a communication system from a first device. The method may further include obtaining profile data of a user associated with the first device and in response to obtaining the request, selecting a second device of multiple second devices to participate in the communication session using the profile data. In some embodiments, the method may also include establishing the communication session between the first device and the second device using the communication system and generating transcript data of the second device audio. The method may also include sending the transcript data and the second device audio to the first device for presentation of the transcription of the second device audio by the first device.

Systems and methods related to providing error correction in a text caption are disclosed. A method may comprise displaying a text caption including one or more blocks of text on each of a first device and a second device remote from the first device. The method may also include generating another block of text and replacing a block of text of the text caption with the other block of text. Furthermore, the method may include displaying the text caption on the second device having the block of text of the first text caption replaced by the other block of text.

A video relay service may comprise at least one server configured to manage a customer database including customer records for audibly-impaired users of the video relay service, manage an N11 database including alternate numbers corresponding to N11 codes for a plurality of different locations defined by political boundaries, receive incoming video calls including an N11 code from a calling party, resolve the N11 code to an appropriate alternate number for an N11 service based on a political boundary for the calling party responsive to a query of the N11 database, establish a first connection between a video communication device associated with the calling party and a call assistant station associated with a sign language interpreter, and establish a second connection between the call assistant station and the N11 service.

A method to establish communication between devices is provided. The method may include obtaining a request from a user at a first device to establish a communication session through a communication system over a wide area network with a second device. The communication session may provide for verbal communication between the user of the first device and a second user of the second device. The method may further include obtaining, at the first device over a local area network, current vital sign data of the user from a medical device configured to obtain vital sign data of the user. In response to the request from the user, the method may include sending a communication request to the communication system over the wide area network to establish the communication session and sending the current vital sign data to the communication system over the wide area network.

A computer-implemented method to populate an electronic record may include generating first transcript data of first audio of a first speaker during a conversation between the first speaker and a second speaker. The method may also include generating second transcript data of second audio of the second speaker during the conversation and identifying one or more words from the first transcript data as being a value for a record field based on the identified words corresponding to the record field and the one or more words being from the first transcript data and not being from the second transcript data. The method may further include providing the identified words to an electronic record database as a value for the record field of a user record of the first speaker.

A method of device to device communication is provided. The method may include obtaining a request for a communication session at a communication system from a first device. The method may further include obtaining profile data of a user associated with the first device and in response to obtaining the request, selecting a second device of multiple second devices to participate in the communication session using the profile data. In some embodiments, the method may also include establishing the communication session between the first device and the second device using the communication system and generating transcript data of the second device audio. A computer-implemented method to establish communication between devices is provided. The method may include obtaining a request for a communication session at a communication system from a first device. The request may include an identifier associated with the first device. The method may further include obtaining data associated with a user associated with the first device based on the identifier in the request. The data may include: a medical condition of the user and a location of the user. In response to obtaining the request, the method may include selecting a second device of multiple second devices associated with the communication system to participate in the communication session. The second device may be selected based on the medical condition of the user and a location of the user. The method also include establishing, by the communication system, the communication session with the selected second device.

A method to transcribe a communication session may include establishing a communication session between a first device and a second device such that first device audio is sent from the first device to the second device and second device audio is sent from the second device to the first device. The method may also include generating first transcript data that may include a transcription of the first device audio. The method may also include generating, in substantially real-time, second transcript data that may include a transcription of the second device audio. The generation of the first transcript data may not occur in substantially real-time such that the generation of the first transcript data is delayed from the generation of the second transcript data. The method may also include routing the second device audio to the first device and routing the first device audio to the second device.

Systems and methods for controlling communication systems for the hearing impaired are disclosed. A portable communication device requests control over a plurality of communication devices. The portable communication device connects to and controls the plurality of communication devices. The portable communication device includes a user interface that enables a user to transfer a call from a first communication device to a second communication device.
