A fenestration assembly includes a sash, a frame surrounding the sash, and at least one screen assembly mounted in at least one of: the top portion and the bottom portion. The frame includes a top portion, a bottom portion, and two jambs forming first slots extending lengthwise along at least a portion of the jamb. The first slots each include a screen edge retention feature. The screen assembly includes a roller assembly substantially hidden from view, a screen material attached to the roller assembly, and a plurality of raised features. Edges of the screen material extend into the first slots. The raised features are attached to each of the edges of the screen material. The raised features are configured to engage the screen edge retention features and retain each of the edges of the screen material at least partially within the first slot of each of the two jambs.

Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward apparatuses, systems, and methods of maintaining a configuration of a cladding arrangement of a fenestration apparatus.

Reserve cladding biasing

A fenestration unit, such as a window, having an upper sash and a lower sash can be configured to permit separate and independent movement of the upper sash and the lower sash when desired, while restraining the upper sash from movement caused by movement of the lower sash. A fenestration unit having a single movable sash can also be configured to provide securement of the single movable sash against undesired vertical movement.

Fenestration unit with sash retention

A window assembly having a window frame and at least one primary sash mounted in the window frame. The primary sash has a plurality of sash members forming a primary sash perimeter and a first glazing panel mounted in the primary sash perimeter. At least one secondary sash is pivotally attached directly to the primary sash perimeter along an interior surface thereof so that the secondary sash is rotatably movable between a closed position and an open position relative to the primary sash. The secondary sash has a plurality of secondary sash members forming a secondary sash structure and a second glazing panel mounted in the secondary sash perimeter. An air chamber is located between the primary sash and the secondary sash that is substantially closed to the interior of the building structure. At least one accessory channel is locating along at least one side of the secondary sash members.

Window assembly with movable interior sash

A self-sealing window with a flexible gasket that extends around the entire perimeter of closure assemblies and a method of installing such closure assemblies in a rough opening. A sealing member is attached continuously around an entire perimeter of the closure assembly to form a water impermeable seal between the sealing member and the closure assembly. The closure assembly is inserted into the rough opening. Accurate positioning of the closure assembly in the rough opening is verified. The closure assembly is secured in the rough opening. The sealing member is engaged with an exterior surface of the structure proximate the rough opening. A foam material is delivered into at least a portion of a space between perimeter edge surfaces of the closure assembly and inner surfaces of the rough opening.

Self-sealing window installation and method

A window or door assembly having a secondary sash hinged to a prime sash and movable between a closed position and an open position toward an interior region. The prime sash is coupled to a frame. A compressible member biases the secondary sash toward the open position. A latch assembly is provided including a plurality of retractable latching elements each biased to an extended position to retain the secondary sash in the closed position. The latch assembly includes a sliding operator accessible from the interior region and slidable along an edge of the secondary sash to sequentially displace the retractable latching elements to a retracted position sufficient for the compressible member to move the secondary sash toward the open position.

Movable light latch

A drainage system for a fenestration assembly is located in a rough opening of a structure. The drainage system includes a moisture barrier located between at least a bottom of the fenestration assembly and a bottom inner surface of the rough opening. The moisture barrier includes a vertical portion extending generally vertically downward below the rough opening on an external side of the structure. A channel assembly is located generally below the rough opening. The channel assembly includes at least one channel having a channel entrance proximate the bottom inner surface of the rough opening and a discharge opening direct toward a drainage area. The channel includes an effective cross-sectional area adapted to siphon water located on the moisture barrier to the drainage area.

High performance window and door installation

An edge protector for a fenestration product is integrally formed of a single sheet of corrugated paperboard that has been perforated, slit, scored, glued, and folded in a particular manner so as to be generally flat in overall configuration prior to being placed in use. At the time of installation, the protector is partially unfolded out of its flat plane to assume an overall generally transversely L-shaped configuration, having a pair of legs intersecting one another at right angles to form a receiving corner for the face and side margins of the product. One leg of the protector forms a flap that covers a marginal portion of the face of the product when the protector is fitted onto the product, while the other leg forms a second flap that covers a marginal portion of the sides of the product. A stiff, relatively short spacer flange comprising a double layer of the material glued together projects edgewise from the outside of the corner in the opposite lateral direction from the side flap to keep the face of the product spaced away from foreign objects. Wrapping of the protector around an outside corner of the product is facilitated by the provision of tear-out tabs embodied in the face flap so that the appropriate tab aligned with the corner of the product may be torn out to leave an empty notch in the flap at that location. The absence of material at the corner of the product eliminates the structural rigidity otherwise afforded by the face flap at that location to enable the protector to more readily bend around the corner.

Flanged edge protector for window unit

A double hung window having a tiltable sash includes a sash brake for preventing movement of the sash along the jambs while in the tilted position. The preferred sash includes respective tongues extending along the stiles that are configured for reception in corresponding channels in the jambs for slidably mounting the sash and providing a seal between the stiles and window frame. The preferred brake elements each include a base configured for fitting within a groove of a respective tongue and a brake shoe that extends into the channel. Each shoe has a length greater than the width of channel so that when the sash is tilted, the shoe engages the channel side walls to provide braking against movement while in the tilted position.
