A locking plate for restricting rotation of a fastener connecting a first component of a gas turbine engine and a second component of a gas turbine engine includes a base having a planar surface receivable in overlapping arrangement with a head of the fastener. A locking portion extends from the base. Engagement between the locking portion and the first component restricts rotation of the locking portion. A key extends from the base and is connectable to the fastener such that the fastener is not rotatable relative to the key when the locking portion has engaged the first component.

Anti-rotation device for fasteners

A gas turbine engine assembly includes a compressor including a plurality of rotors, where at least one of the plurality of rotors includes a radial inner sealing surface. A rotating shaft drives rotation of the plurality of rotors, where the rotating shaft includes an annular groove proximate the radial inner sealing surface. A seal is disposed within the annular groove, and the seal comprises at least two annular sections forming a complete circumference. Each of the at least two annular sections are separate parts and include a radially-facing sealing surface engaged to the radial inner sealing surface of the rotor and an annular slot disposed radially inward of the radially-facing sealing surface. A retainer is disposed within the annular slot limiting radial expansion of the at least two annular sections.

Rotating carbon piston ring seal

A blade comprises an airfoil extending from a trailing edge to a leading edge. The airfoil includes a body formed of an aluminum containing material. A sheath is at the leading edge and is formed of a titanium containing material. A sandwich is positioned intermediate the sheath and the airfoil body, the sandwich including an outer adhesive layer adjacent the sheath, an intermediate fabric layer and an inner adhesive layer adjacent the body. A gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

Systems and methods for de-icing a fan of a gas turbine engine are disclosed. The systems and methods may include an electrical coil an electrical coil operatively associated with a non-rotating forward assembly of the gas turbine engine; a magnet operatively associated with a rotating surface of the fan, the magnet and the electrical coil producing electricity when the fan is in motion; and a heating element operatively associated with a surface on the fan, the heating element being powered by the electricity produced by the magnet and the electrical coil.

De-icing by integral electric heat generation

A de-icing system for a gas turbine engine according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a forward assembly and a rear assembly adjacent to the forward assembly. One of the forward assembly and the rear assembly is rotatable relative to the other to generate an amount of air friction between said forward and rear assemblies. A method of de-icing a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

A fan assembly of a gas turbine engine, a method for fabricating a fan assembly for a gas turbine engine, and a gas turbine engine are disclosed. The fan assembly of the gas turbine engine may include a spinner section, a fan hub section aft of the spinner section, and a joint therebetween. The fan assembly may further include a support ring for internally supporting the spinner, the support ring including a first portion facing the fan hub and a second portion connected to the spinner at the joint, wherein the connection between the second portion and the joint is a bonded connection.

Systems and methods for de-icing a fan of a gas turbine engine are disclosed. A rotating shaft coupling assembly includes a first rotating shaft defining a step at a longitudinal end. A second rotating shaft has a longitudinal end to be received against the step of the first rotating shaft such that the first and second rotating shafts form an overlapping portion. A coupler sleeve including a shape memory alloy is disposed about at least the overlapping portion of the first and second rotating shafts to couple the shafts together.

A turbine engine fan case assembly includes a structural case and a liner assembly. A radially accommodating attachment system connects the liner assembly to the structural case. The attachment system comprises a circumferentially-distributed plurality of longitudinally elongate radially outwardly open channels mounted to the liner assembly. The attachment system further comprises an associated plurality of inwardly-projecting tongues mounted to the structural case. Each tongue is accommodated in an associated such channel.

An exemplary turbomachine seal assembly includes a ring seal that has a radially-facing sealing surface, an axially-facing sealing surface, and a first tapered surface. The turbomachine seal assembly also includes a spacer that has a second tapered surface. The second tapered surface interfaces with the first tapered surface to bias the radially facing sealing surface and the axially facing sealing surface toward a sealing position.

In this regard, a representative seal includes: an annular seal body having an inner diameter and an outer diameter, the seal body extending along an axis of symmetry between a first end and a second end; the seal body being formed of a strip of material having first and second opposing edges, the strip of material being deformed to exhibit a first sealing surface at the first end, a second sealing surface at the second end, and a third sealing surface along the inner diameter, the first edge being located adjacent to the third sealing surface, the second edge being located adjacent to the second sealing surface; the first edge being spaced from the second edge to define an annular opening, the annular opening providing access to an annular cavity of the seal body.
