In using a virtual extensible local area network (VXLAN) for stream processing, a management system allocates resources for a streaming application based on an operator graph of the streaming application. The management system assigns the resources to a group of VXLAN segments based on the operator graph of the streaming application. A first processing element of the streaming application multicasts data on the group of VXLAN segments. A second processing element on a given VXLAN segment of the group of VXLAN segments receives the data. If the second processing element is an intended recipient of the data, then the second processing element processes the data. If the second processing element is not the intended recipient of the data, then the second processing element ignores the data.

Stream processing without central transportation planning

Embodiments presented herein describe techniques for performing a rolling upgrade to a distributed runtime environment that includes a cluster of computing systems. A first of a plurality of computing nodes executing a first version of a runtime environment determines a second version of the runtime environment via a registry. Upon determining that the second version is a more recent version, the first computing node retrieves an install package for the second version from a second one of the computing nodes. The first computing node installs the second version using the install package.

The present invention is a method, program product, computer system and apparatus for configuring an existing server process without the need to end and restart the server process. Specifically, a new server process is started with updated configuration information. If an existing server process is currently running, then the new server process assumes the role of a client and initiates a configuration request. The configuration request contains the necessary information for the existing server process to update its &ldquo;old&rdquo; configuration to conform to the &ldquo;new configuration&rdquo; in accordance with the configuration request.

In such applications, an additional artificial control parameter is included within the template which contains an identifier of the text field for the caption or menu pulldown control. Thereafter, the control parameters may be utilized to automatically extract text fields for translation. An attempted automatic extraction of text fields for translation in an application, which includes dialog boxes or menu templates, will result in an error message in the absence of the required artificial control parameter.
