The present invention provides an ink jet recording method capable of recording an image having good abrasion resistance by using an aqueous ink and a reaction liquid. In the ink jet recording method, the aqueous ink containing a resin particle and the reaction liquid containing a reactant for aggregating the component in the aqueous ink are ejected from a recording head of the ink jet system and applied onto a recording medium. The reaction liquid contains a compound represented by the general formula (1) (n in the formula represents an integer of 0 to 3). At least one of the aqueous ink and the reaction liquid contains a surfactant having an HLB value of ≤15.

Ink jet recording method and ink jet recording apparatus

To provide an ink jet recording method which can record an image on a recording medium irrespective of what material is selected therefor. The ink jet recording method is a method of recording an image on a recording medium with a colorless transparent aqueous ink and includes a step of applying, to the recording medium, the aqueous ink containing a mineral acid and having a pH of 1.0 or less; and a step of forming carbon by making use of the mineral acid.

The aqueous ink for ink jet includes: a pigment; and a surfactant, wherein the pigment includes a self-dispersible pigment in which at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of (i) an anionic group and (ii) a group in which another atomic group and an anionic group are bonded to each other is bonded to a surface of a particle of carbon black and a density of the functional group is 0.10 &#x3bc;mol/mor more to 0.48 &#x3bc;mol/mor less and wherein the surfactant includes an amino acid type surfactant in which a nitrogen atom capable of becoming a cation has a structure of a secondary amine or a tertiary amine.

Aqueous ink, ink cartridge and ink jet recording method

An object of the invention is to provide an ink set which enables to improve image density and scratch resistance of the images recorded using an ink containing a self-dispersion pigment and an ink containing a modified siloxane compound. An ink set to be used for ink jet recording including plural inks having a first ink and a second ink independently, wherein the first ink contains at least a pigment having functional groups on surface of pigment particles and a compound having adsorptivity to the pigment and the functional group density on the surface of the pigment particles is 1.5 &#x3bc;mol/mor more and less than 2.6 &#x3bc;mol/mand the second ink contains at least a pigment and a modified siloxane compound.

Provided are an ink jet ink set, an ink jet recording method, and an ink jet recording apparatus each of which can reduce the graininess of an image to be recorded and improve the water fastness of the image even in a recording medium such as plain paper. The ink jet ink set has a first ink and a second ink independently, and is used so that the first and second inks overlap each other at least partly upon application of the inks to a recording medium. The first ink contains at least a pigment and a silicone oil.
