A method includes obtaining foot force data that is created by sampling, in accordance with a sampling signal, data from a plurality of pressure sensing elements of a shoe sensor system, where the plurality of pressure sensing elements are distributed in a pattern having a first pressure sensing element at a fifth metatarsal area of a lateral wall of an insole of a shoe associated with the shoe sensor system, and a second pressure sensing element at a first metatarsal area of a medial wall of the insole. The method further includes processing the foot force data to determine a horizontal force of a foot of a user of the shoe sensor system while the user is performing a movement while wearing the shoe.

Wireless in-shoe physical activity monitoring

An apparatus includes left and right shoe sensor systems. A shoe sensor system includes pressure sensing elements, an accelerometer, and a control circuit that includes a power source circuit, a clock circuit, a processing module, memory, a wireless communication transceiver, sensor communication links, and an accelerometer communication link. The processing module samples data from the pressure sensing element to produce foot force data and samples data from the first accelerometer to produce three-dimensional foot data. The wireless communication transmits as outbound radio frequency (RF) signals regarding the foot force data and the three-dimensional foot data.

Wireless in-shoe physical activity monitoring apparatus

A method includes obtaining foot force data that is created by sampling, in accordance with a sampling signal, data from pressure sensing elements of a shoe sensor system. The method further includes obtaining three-dimensional foot data that is created by sampling, in accordance with the sampling signal, data from an accelerometer of the shoe sensor system. The method further includes correlating the foot force data and the three-dimensional foot data in accordance with the sampling signal to produce correlated foot data. The method further includes processing the correlated foot data to determine one or more of: distance traveled during a time period, stride length data, time duration, fatigue indication, injury prevention indicators, elevation tracking for the time period, running optimization, and rotational sport optimization.

A method including producing an electronic circuit. The method can include providing a first circuit portion, a second circuit portion, a flying capacitor voltage comparator, an output switching circuit, an electronic circuit first output node, and/or an electronic circuit second output node. The electronic circuit first output node can be electrically coupled to a first gate terminal of a switching converter. The electronic circuit second output node can be electrically coupled to a second gate terminal of the switching converter. The method also can include electrically coupling a voltage sensor output terminal of the flying capacitor voltage comparator to the first circuit second input node of the first circuit portion and the second circuit second input node of the second circuit portion. Electronic circuit and method of controlling three-level switching converters

A method for determining a rate of repetitive bodily motion of an individual with negligible contact with the individual begins by one or more computing devices transmitting a signal for reflection off of the individual and receiving a reflected signal. The method continues with one or more computing device applying a frequency estimation algorithm to the baseband signal to produce an estimated spectral density, where the estimated spectral density is in frequency domain and includes at least one frequency component corresponding to the repetitive bodily motion. The method further includes applying a repetitive bodily motion pattern search function to the estimated spectral density to estimate the rate of the repetitive bodily motion of the individual based on the at least one frequency component.

Method and apparatus for wirelessly monitoring repetitive bodily movements

A method includes transmitting one or more local transmit radar signals and receiving a plurality of local receive radar signals that corresponds to the one or more local transmit radar signals being reflected or refracted off an object. The method further includes processing the plurality of local receive radar signals to determine a relative position of the object. The method further includes determining whether the object is positioned within a desired detection volume associated with a position of the transmitter section. When the object is positioned within the desired detection volume, further processing the local receive radar signals to determine movement pattern of the object and whether the movement pattern of the object is within a range of plausible movements for the object. When the movement pattern of the object is within a range of plausible movements for the object, tracking movement of the object within the desired detection volume.

Local object detection system

A method for determining a rate of repetitive bodily motion of an individual with negligible contact with the individual begins by one or more computing devices transmitting a signal for reflection off of the individual, receiving a reflected signal, and down-converting the reflected signal to a baseband signal. The method continues with one or more computing device applying a frequency estimation algorithm to the baseband signal to produce an estimated spectral density, and applying a repetitive bodily motion pattern search function to the estimated spectral density to estimate the rate of the repetitive bodily motion of the individual.

Wireless in-shoe physical activity monitoring implementation

A noise-shaped direct digital IF to RF DAC (DIF2RF) with embedded up-converter mixer is presented. The digital IF signal is noised shaped by a band-pass &#x3a3;&#x394; modulator with a single bit IF output followed by a semi-digital current-mode IF filter to attenuate out-of-band quantization noise. A current steering DAC combines scaled values of local oscillator (LO) signals as current sources for performing current steering and upconversion in a single cell.

Embodiments of RF power amplifiers are disclosed that include switched-mode power amplifiers supplied by synchronous buck DC-DC converters. DC-DC converters are disclosed that can be integrated onto a semiconductor device. In one embodiment, the invention includes a first MOSFET and a second MOSFET, where the drain of the first MOSFET forms a common node with the drain of the second MOSFET. In addition, a controller is connected to the gates of each of the MOSFETS and a passive filter is connected between the common node and ground. A load is also connected between the common node and ground and feedback circuitry is connected between the common node and the controller.
