A method of forming a structure for a downhole application comprises forming an interfacial material comprising at least one of self-reinforced polyphenylene, polyphenylene sulfide, polysulfone, and polyphenylsulfone between opposing surfaces of a first substrate and a second substrate. A downhole structure and a downhole assembly are also described.

Methods of forming structures for downhole applications

A hybrid article comprises a disintegrable metal comprising one or more of the following: Mg; Al; Zn; Mn; an alloy thereof; or a composite thereof; and a disintegrable polymer comprising one or more of the following: an epoxy polymer derived from an epoxy base and a curing agent having cleavable bonds; a cured cyanate ester; or a poly(hexahydrotriazine).

A superelastic metal seal for use in a downhole tool, wherein the superelastic metal seal may be formed from a superelastic Ni&#x2014;Ti alloy. The superelastic Ni&#x2014;Ti alloy may be prestrained with a permanent strain. Superelasticity may be imparted to the superelastic Ni&#x2014;Ti alloy through a thermal treatment process or through prestraining the superelastic Ni&#x2014;Ti alloy. The superelastic Ni&#x2014;Ti alloy may exhibit superelastic behavior. The superelastic Ni&#x2014;Ti alloy may not exhibit shape memory behavior.

Methods of forming superelastic seals

An electric submersible well pump assembly includes a pump and an electrical motor filled with a dielectric lubricant. A capsule extends around a portion of the motor, defining a chamber between the capsule and the motor. A port through a side wall of the motor communicates the lubricant within the motor to the chamber. Thermoelectric devices are located within the chamber. Voltage supplied to the thermoelectric devices cools the lubricant.

Superelastic nickel-titanium alloy downhole seals, wellbore tools including such seals, and related methods

A composition contains a polymer component comprising a crosslinked product of a polyarylene, a crosslinked product of a substituted polyphenylene, a crosslinked product of a polyphenylene sulfide and a polyphenylsulfone, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing; and a mesoporous silicate having an average pore size of about 5 nanometers to about 50 nanometers. The composition has high-temperature elastomeric properties and excellent mechanical strength. The compositions are useful in oil and gas downhole applications. Methods for the manufacture of the composition and articles comprising the composition are also disclosed.
