A traction battery for a motor vehicle includes a plurality of battery cells which are electrically connected to one another, a battery housing which houses the battery cells, several degassing elements for conducting gas away out of the battery housing in the case of a cell outgassing, a sensing system for localizing the cell outgassing, and a control unit which, in the case of a cell outgassing, actuates the degassing elements such that the degassing element situated nearest the cell outgassing remains closed and one or more of the degassing elements that are farther away from the cell outgassing is/are opened.

A battery for a motor vehicle includes at least one cell assembly with a large number of battery cells, wherein the battery cells each have a cell housing with a degassing element for discharging a hot gas produced in the cell housing in the event of a fault, a battery housing with housing walls which enclose a receiving space for receiving the at least one cell assembly, and a deactivation device which is arranged in the receiving space of the battery housing and has at least one sleeve which is filled with a combustion-promoting agent, wherein the sleeve, when it is acted on by the hot gas discharged from at least one battery cell, is configured to release the combustion-promoting agent.

A fuel cell has a gas diffusion layer and a separator plate. The separator plate forms, together with the gas diffusion layer, at least one gas-conducting flow field. At least one channel web of the separator plate has an end with an upper face and an end face. The end face is designed to divide a flow impinging on the end face of the channel web in a first direction into two partial flows. The end face is designed to deflect a liquid of the flow impinging on the end face adjacently to the upper face in such a manner that the liquid is spaced further from the upper face after deflection than before deflection.
