Disclosed are beds having stackable air chambers. A mattress can include a first air chamber, a second air chamber stacked beneath the first air chamber and fluidly connected to the first air chamber, and a support stacked beneath the first air chamber and positioned between the second air chamber and a foot end of the mattress. The first air chamber can extend across a length of the mattress from a head end to the foot end of the mattress. The second air chamber can be positioned at a shoulder region of the mattress. The first and second air chambers can have a common internal pressure, such that decreasing the pressure in the first and second air chambers cause the support stacked beneath the first air chamber and positioned between the second air chamber and the foot end of the mattress to increase support at a lumbar region of the mattress.

A foundation for a bed system can include a foundation structure having a head, a foot, a first side, and a second side. An air pump configured for supplying air to and inflating at least one mattress air chamber can be housed within the foundation structure proximate the foot of the foundation structure. A control box and a central power hub can be housed within the foundation structure. The central power hub can be electrically connected to and configured to deliver electrical power to each of the air pump, the control box, and one or more additional electrical components. The foundation can optionally integrate other components into the foundation.

A bed can include a mattress and a foot warming system. The mattress can include a mattress cover and a support structure that is positioned under and covered by the mattress cover. The foot warming system can include a heating unit an envelope, a power source, and an electrical connector electrically connecting the heating unit to the power source. The heating unit can be positioned inside the envelope between the envelope top and the envelope bottom. The heating unit and the envelope can be positioned at a foot of the bed under mattress cover between the support structure and the mattress cover.

A support surface assembly comprises a support surface and a multi-zone chamber comprising two or more inflatable bladders forming the support surface. In an example, first and second bladders of the multi-zone chamber are arranged in a head to toe configuration and are substantially free to move with respect to one another. In another example, a flexible joint is included between first and second bladders, the flexible joint including one or more releasable fasteners. In another example, a fluid communication conduit between first and second bladders couples the first and second bladders in a series fluid communication. In another example, the bladders form an array of bladders arranged in series from a head to a foot of the support surface, wherein each of the bladders has substantially the same dimensions.
