In certain embodiments, a system includes a gas cleaner. The gas cleaner includes a solvent to clean a syngas. The system also includes a heat exchanger configured to heat a liquid to generate a vapor. The system further includes a vapor absorption refrigeration (VAR) cycle coupled to the gas cleaner and the heat exchanger. The VAR cycle is configured to cool the solvent. In addition, the vapor drives the VAR cycle.

In one embodiment, a gasification system includes a black water processing system with flash tanks. The flash tanks may separate gases from black water to produce a first discharge of the black water and another discharge of separated gases. The gasification system also includes a heat exchanger that transfers heat from the discharge of separated gases to a process stream of the gasification system.

In an embodiment, a system includes a methanation section generally including a fuel inlet configured to receive a first fuel, a fuel outlet configured to output methane, and a first fuel path configured to route a first flow of the first fuel from the fuel inlet to the fuel outlet. The first fuel path includes a first methanator configured to generate the methane from the first fuel in an exothermic methanation region. The system also includes a second fuel path configured to route a second flow of a second fuel without conversion to methane. The second fuel path is also configured to receive heat from the exothermic methanation region.
