Disclosed are compositions and methods for treating and modifying surfaces and for enhancing delivery of active agents to surfaces treated therewith, wherein the compositions comprise siloxane polymers functionalized with pendant moieties comprising two or more anionic groups, at least one anionic group being a carboxy group. When applied to a suitable surface, the present composition forms a substantially hydrophobic coating of the anionic functionalized siloxane polymer on the treated surface. These polymers effectively deposit on surfaces that have cationic sites, which are capable of forming bonds or linkages with the anionic groups of the polymer. The treated surface becomes hydrophobic due to the deposition of the anionic functionalized siloxane polymer, which then imparts a variety of end use benefits to that surface such as ease of cleaning, soil release, stain removal and prevention, conditioning, etc. The anionic functionalized siloxane polymer further acts as a carrier to deposit active agents onto the surface and to improve retention and efficacy of the active agents on the treated surface. The present compositions are useful in a variety of applications including oral care, hair and skin care, personal care, cosmetics, and fabric and hard surface cleaning and conditioning.

Compositions comprising anionic functionalized polyorganosiloxanes for hydrophobically modifying surfaces and enhancing delivery of active agents to surfaces treated therewith

Disclosed are personal care or cosmetic compositions comprising a dicarboxy functionalized polyorganosiloxane and methods for the cleaning or the treatment of hair or skin and for enhancing delivery of active agents to hair or skin with the compositions. Said personal care or cosmetic compositions can be formulated in a wide variety of types of products for the skin and/or hair (or, more generally, keratin) such as mousses, gels (in particular hair dressing gels), conditioners, hair dressing formulations or to aid comb-through of hair, rinsing formulae, hand and body lotions, skin moisturizing products, skin cleansing or disinfecting compositions, shower gels, toilet milks, cream foundations, make-up removal compositions, sun and ultraviolet radiation protection lotions, creams or gels, skin care creams, anti-age preparations, anti-acne preparations, local analgesics, mascaras, deodorants, antiperspirants, lipsticks and other compositions of the same type. The use of dicarboxy functionalized polyorganosiloxanes permits to confer benefits such as an increase in shine, gloss or volume of hair, easier comb-through of hair, easier spreadability or slipperiness onto skin; it also permits a better persistence of active materials or benefits agents deposited onto the surface and consequently permits to maintain the activity of the composition deposited on the surface over time. The dicarboxy functionalized polyorganosiloxane can be used in an amount of from about 0.1% to about 30%, preferably from about 3% to about 10% by weight, of said personal care or cosmetic compositions.

Personal care compositions comprising a dicarboxy functionalized polyorganosiloxane

Examples are oral compositions for use in cleaning and whitening of natural teeth and dental prosthesis; for preventing, reducing or removing plaque, calculus and surface deposited stains on teeth; and for providing shine, smoothness and positive feel benefits to teeth, the compositions comprising at least about 0.1% by weight of a dicarboxy functionalized siloxane polymer in a formulation that effectively deposits the polymer to teeth and other oral surfaces.

Oral care compositions comprising dicarboxy functionalized polyorganosiloxanes

Disclosed are home care compositions comprising a dicarboxy functionalized polyorganosiloxane and methods for treating and modifying surfaces and for enhancing delivery of active agents to surfaces treated with the compositions. Said home care compositions can be used particularly for cleaning, rinsing, care or treatment of industrial, domestic or communal hard surfaces, as well as textile article surfaces; they are targeted at conferring on the surfaces treated therewith benefits such as water repellency, soil release, stain resistance, anti-fogging, surface repair, anti-wrinkling, shine, lubrication and/or at improving the residuality, impact and or efficacy of active materials comprised in said compositions. The dicarboxy functionalized polyorganosiloxane can be present in the home care compositions at a concentration of from about 0.005% to 10% by weight, preferably from about 0.05% to 5% by weight.

Home care compositions comprising a dicarboxy functionalized polyorganosiloxane

Disclosed are oral care compositions and methods for overall cleaning, whitening and preventing, reducing or removing surface deposited stains on natural teeth and dental prosthesis, the compositions comprising in an orally acceptable carrier at least 0.1% by weight of a water-soluble or water-dispersible copolymer prepared by copolymerizing one or a mixture of vinyl pyrrolidone (VP) monomers with one or a mixture of C1-C19 alkyl carboxylic acid (AC) C2-C12 alkenyl ester monomers. Preferably, the compositions further comprise one or a mixture of other oral care agents selected from a water soluble alkali metal or ammonium tripolyphosphate in an amount at least about 0.5% by weight of the composition, an abrasive, preferably a precipitated silica abrasive, in an amount at least about 6% by weight of the composition and a bleaching agent in an amount at least about 0.1% by weight of the composition. This invention further relates to methods of cleaning, whitening and polishing natural teeth and dental prosthesis and of preventing, reducing or removing surface deposited stains from teeth by administering the present compositions.

Oral compositions providing enhanced overall cleaning

Disclosed is a composition for delivering an oral care substance to the oral cavity, comprising: (a) an organosiloxane resin; (b) a volatile carrier capable of solubilizing the organosiloxane resin; (c) a rheology modifier; and (d) at least one oral care substance. Compositions comprising organosiloxane resins for delivering oral care substances

A system for delivering an oral care substance to the oral surface, the delivery system comprising a strip of flexible material having a sufficient flexibility to form to the contours of the oral surface. The strip of material is readily conformable to oral surfaces without permanent deformation when the delivery system is placed there against. The oral care substance is applied to the strip of material such that when the delivery system is placed on the oral surface the active contacts the surface. The oral care substance also provides adhesive attachment between the strip of material and the oral surface so as to hold the delivery system in place for a sufficient amount of time to allow the active to act upon the oral surface. Methods of delivering the oral care substance to the oral surface include pre-coating the strip of material, having the wearer apply oral care substance to the strip of material, or having the wearer apply the oral care substance directly to the oral surface and immediately applying the strip of material over the applied oral care substance.

Disclosed are methods for treatment of herpes virus infections in a human or lower animal subject comprising administering to the subject stannous salt and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers suitable for topical administration.
