The present disclosure relates to devices for wind turbine blades and methods for reducing vibrations in wind turbines. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to devices for mitigating vortex induced vibrations and stall induced vibrations, wind turbine blades comprising such devices, and methods for reducing wind turbine vibrations when the wind turbine is parked, especially during wind turbine installation and/or maintenance. A method for mitigating vibrations of a parked wind turbine comprises arranging a device in an inactive state with a wind turbine blade; and causing the device to transition to an active state in which the device grips the wind turbine blade more strongly than in the inactive state.

Devices and methods for mitigating vibrations in wind turbine blades

A system and method are provided for controlling a wind turbine. Accordingly, a component of the wind turbine is monitored by at least one sensor of a sensor system. An output is received from the sensor system which indicates a fault with the sensor. A fault accommodation response is generated by a fault module. The fault accommodation response includes an accommodation signal which replaces the output signal of the faulty sensor.

System and method for controlling a wind turbine

An apparatus for servicing internal components of an aircraft engine includes a flexible hollow tube; a latching mechanism connected to or incorporated with the flexible hollow tube; and a servicing device to be inserted through the flexible hollow tube. The servicing device is freely moveable through the flexible hollow tube and decoupled from the latching mechanism. The flexible hollow tube is shaped and configured so as to enable proximate positioning of the flexible hollow tube with respect to a rotatable component of an aircraft engine allowing attachment of the flexible hollow tube to the rotatable component via the latching mechanism after the flexible hollow tube is inserted through an entry port of the aircraft engine.

System and method for servicing aircraft engines

A magneto-optic imaging apparatus adapted for use with an imaging device, such as a smartphone, tablet computer, or borescope, for visually detecting defects in the surface or subsurface of a component using a magneto-optic effect. The magneto-optic imaging apparatus includes a housing with an interface for connection with the imaging device such that a camera and light source of the imaging device may be implemented for magneto-optic visualization. The housing includes optical elements including one or more filters, a polarizer, a magneto-optic or garnet film, and an analyzer. The housing also includes a flexible coil or electrical terminals for inducing a magnetic field in the component. The magneto-optic imaging apparatus may include a translucent or transparent body of conformable material or materials to conform the magneto-optic film and flexible coil to a non-planar surface of the component.

Apparatus and method for visualizing defects using a magneto-optical effect

A method of servicing a portion of a gas turbine engine includes inserting a rigid guide tube into an inspection port in a shroud of the gas turbine engine. The flexible guide tube is inserted into and through the rigid guide tube. The flexible guide tube is pre-shaped such that the flexible guide tube is biased towards a predetermined shape after being inserted through the rigid guide tube. A tool is pushed through the flexible guide tube such that the distal end of the tool moves out of and away from an end of the flexible guide tube. An area of interest of the gas turbine engine is then serviced with the tool.
