Provided are a pentasil-type zeolite that is less likely to adsorb water compared to conventional zeolites and has excellent strength when used as a molded body, and a method for producing the pentasil-type zeolite. A pentasil-type zeolite having a water adsorption amount of 4.0 g/100 g-zeolite or less under the conditions of 25&#xb0; C. and a relative humidity of 90% and having a major axis diameter of primary particles of from 0.2 &#x3bc;m to 4.0 &#x3bc;m, and a method for producing the pentasil-type zeolite.

Pentasil-type zeolite and production method therefor

[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a pentasil-type zeolite that combines a higher BET specific surface area and a higher acid amount than previously; and a method for manufacturing said pentasil-type zeolite. [Solution] A pentasil-type zeolite characterized in that the BET specific surface area thereof is 450 m/g or more, and furthermore the acid amount thereof, measured by the ammonia-TPD method, is 0.38 mmol/g or more. This pentasil-type zeolite can be obtained by a manufacturing method which has a crystallization step for crystallizing a mixture containing tetrabutylphosphonium cations, a silica source, an alumina source, an alkali metal source, and water, and which is characterized in that the molar ratio of the alkali metal relative to the silica in the mixture is greater than 0.04 and less than 0.10.

Pentasil-type zeolite, and method for manufacturing same

A novel MFI zeolite that when used as a catalyst, can be used for a selective catalytic reaction for larger molecules and provides a method for producing the MFI zeolite. The MFI zeolite includes uniform mesopores having a pore distribution curve which a peak-width thereof at half height (hw) is at most 20 nm (hw&#x2266;20 nm) and a center value (&#x3bc;) of a maximum peak is 10 nm or more and 20 nm or less (10 nm&#x2266;&#x3bc;&#x2266;20 nm), and having a pore volume (pv) of the uniform mesopores of at least 0.05 mL/g (0.05 mL/g&#x2266;pv); the MFI zeolite has no peak in a range of 0.1&#xb0; to 3&#xb0; in powder X-ray diffraction measurement with a diffraction angle represented by 2&#x3b8;; and the MFI zeolite has an average particle diameter (PD) of at most 100 nm (PD&#x2266;100 nm).

There is provided, in a simple, rapid and efficient manner, a high purity, low silica X-type zeolite binderless shaped product with a high content of low silica X-type zeolite and high crystallinity, very high crush resistance and attrition resistance, and excellent adsorption performance. There is further provided an efficient gas separation method utilizing the high purity, low silica X-type zeolite binderless shaped product. With the high purity, low silica X-type zeolite binderless shaped product, the peak intensity of the faujasite zeolite at the index of 220 is stronger than the peak intensity at the index of 311 according to X-ray diffraction, and from approximately 60% to approximately 90% of the exchangeable cation sites are sodium while all or a portion of the remainder are potassium; the high purity, low silica X-type zeolite binderless shaped product also has all or a portion of the exchangeable cation sites are ion-exchanged with lithium.

A low hydrogen overvoltage cathode is provided which comprises an electroconductive base material coated with an alloy layer containing cobalt and tin at least at a content of tin ranging from 0.01 to 95% by weight. A process is also provided for producing the low hydrogen voltage cathode, wherein cobalt and tin at least are electrolytically co-deposited onto a surface of an electroconductive base material from a plating bath containing cobalt ions, tin ions, and a complexing agent.
