The information processing apparatus includes a first acquisition unit configured to acquire identification information for identifying the process; a second acquisition unit configured to acquire port information indicating a characteristic of a communication port used by the process to communicate with the external apparatus; and a control unit configured to control a storage unit to store the port information and the identification information in correspondence with each other, wherein the second acquisition unit is further configured to acquire the port information by filtering an input or output of driver software used by the process to use the communication port, monitoring communication between the process and an application programming interface used to access the communication port, or a port monitoring interface.
