A joining device comprises a die and driving means. In driving the foot portion of the self-piercing rivet toward the terrace portion of the first concave portion, the foot portion of the self-piercing rivet is spread outward by the terrace portion and a part of the members to be joined runs into the second concave portion.

Provided is a cylinder block which includes a liner and a water jacket having a closed-deck structure in a simple configuration and which has a structure providing high rigidity and enabling easy formation at low cost. A cylinder block of the present invention includes a liner arranged on an inner circumference surface of a bored hole and a water jacket arranged on the outside of the liner in the radial direction. By a bending process of folding back an end portion of a cylinder-shaped member, a hollow portion capable of forming the water jacket is formed integrally in one end portion or both end portions of a liner portion forming the liner, and the cylinder-shaped member is enclosed with a cylinder block forming material by casting.

Cylinder block and method for manufacturing the same

A cylinder liner has an upper portion and a lower portion with respect to an axial direction of the cylinder liner. A high thermal conductive film is provided on an outer circumferential surface of the upper portion. A low thermal conductive film is provided on an outer circumferential surface of the lower portion. The cylinder liner reduces temperature difference of a cylinder along its axial direction.

Cylinder liner and engine

A cylinder liner for insert casting used in a cylinder block is provided. The cylinder liner includes an outer circumferential surface having a plurality of projections. Each projection has a constricted shape. A film of a metal material is formed on the outer circumferential surface and the surfaces of the projections. As a result, the cylinder liner ensures sufficient bond strength with the casting material of a cylinder block, and sufficient thermal conductivity with the cylinder block.

A printer includes a first print head that performs printing on one side surface of the print medium and a second print head that performs printing on the other side surface of the print medium and abnormality detection sensors that are attached respectively to the first and second print heads. A printer performs control such that in the case where any abnormality is detected in one of the first and second print heads, print data to be printed using one print head in which the abnormality has been detected is printed using the other print head which is normally operating.

A thermal printer has a first thermal head, a second thermal head, and a feeding mechanism. The feeding mechanism feeds one of thermal papers which include a double-sided thermal paper having thermosensitive layers formed on both sides thereof and a single-sided thermal paper having a thermosensitive layer formed on one side thereof. The first thermal head is so provided as to be brought into contact with a first side of the thermal paper fed by the feeding mechanism. An airbag apparatus comprised of a cover for covering an expanding side of an airbag and forming an opening for the airbag. A bag-like airbag is folded into a substantially T-shape having a first developing portion which is continuous with an opening from which gas flows in and second developing portions extending fore-and-aft direction from an upper end of the first developing portion. Each of the second developing portions is folded into a bellows toward a prescribed point, thereby forming an aggregate. The aggregate is rotated, the first developing portion is wound around the aggregate, and the folded airbag is accommodated in an airbag accommodation portion of a retainer.

In a cylinder block of an internal combustion engine, crank caps are bolted and a crankshaft is rotatably supported by the crank caps. The cylinder block includes bulkheads which divide an internal space of a crankcase into sub-sections for respective cylinders of the engine. Breathing holes are formed in each of the bulkheads and allow the sub-sections of the crankcase to communicate with each other via the breathing holes. Crank cap holes are formed in a bottom of each of the bulkheads. Bolts are fastened to the crank cap holes to fix the crank caps to the bulkheads. The crank cap holes are threaded holes which extend from the bottom of each of the bulkheads and are open to the breathing holes.
