The porous-cellulose particles according to the present invention are constituted by gathered crystalline celluloses having a type I crystal form including a glucose molecule as a constitutional unit. That is, porous-cellulose particles having high sphericity have been achieved from a natural raw material. The porous-cellulose particles have an average particle diameter of 0.5 to less than 50 &#x3bc;m, a specific surface area of 50 to 1000 m/g, and a sphericity of 0.85 or more. Cosmetic products containing such porous-cellulose particles have excellent texture properties.

There is provided a spherical organic-inorganic composite particle having good biodegradability. The organic-inorganic composite particle according to the present invention includes 1 to 79% by weight of a silica component and 21 to 99% by weight of a biodegradable plastic. The organic-inorganic composite particle has an average particle diameter dof 0.5 to 25 &#x3bc;m, a true density of 1.03 to 2.00 g/cm, and a sphericity of 0.80 or more. An object of the present invention is to provide a porous silica particle with the small specific surface area and the large pore volume, a method for producing the same, and a cosmetic containing the porous silica particle with such characteristics as the texture improver. The porous silica particle according to the present invention has a structure sparsely packed with silica microparticles. The mean particle diameter is 0.5 to 25 &#x3bc;m, the specific surface area measured by the BET method is 5 to 60 m/cm, and the pore volume is 0.35 to 2.0 ml/g. In the pore size distribution of the porous silica particles (X axis: pore diameter, Y axis: value obtained by differentiating the pore volume by the pore diameter), the most frequent pore diameter (D) satisfies 100&#x3c;D&#x3c;4000 [nm].
