The inventive vehicle braking control device performs a brake assist control of increasing a braking force for avoiding a collision of a vehicle at a more appropriate time. The device comprises a portion which acquires an estimated time until a vehicle reaches to an obstacle; a portion which judges based on a braking operation amount and a braking operation speed value if the driver performed an urgent braking operation; and a portion which determines the start of a braking force assist control when an urgent braking operation is judged in a case that the estimated time is less than a first predetermined time, wherein, if the estimated time is less than a second predetermined time shorter than the first predetermined time, the urgent braking operation is judged when the braking operation amount exceeds a threshold value irrespective of the braking operation speed value.

An ECU is formed of an ABS control device for controlling operation of a braking device when a slip ratio of wheels FR to RL becomes greater than a threshold, an automatic brake control device that controls operation of the braking device based on information on surroundings of the vehicle, and the threshold changing device that changes the threshold at which the braking device is activated by the ABS control device so that the threshold when the braking device is being operated by the automatic brake control device is smaller than the threshold when the braking device is not being operated by the automatic brake control device.

A braking force control device can control braking forces of the respective wheels of a vehicle, suppresses an increase of the braking force of a first wheel that is a wheel having a relatively large slip amount in a pair of right/left wheels and increases the braking force of a second wheel that is a wheel having a relatively small slip amount. The braking force control device may suppress the increase of the braking force of the first wheel before the friction coefficient of a road surface to the first wheel reaches a peak and when the friction coefficient is in the vicinity of the peak. It is preferable to suppress the increase of the braking force of the first wheel by holding the braking force of the first wheel.

Braking force control device

A brake fade determination device determines whether a fade state of a brake device that brakes a wheel of a vehicle is occurring on the basis of the deceleration of the vehicle and the slip amount of the wheel. A braking system includes: the brake device that is able to adjust a braking force that acts on the wheel of the vehicle; and a controller that controls the braking force to control the slip condition of the wheel. The controller determines whether a fade state of the brake device is occurring on the basis of the deceleration of the vehicle and the slip amount of the wheel, and adjusts the amount of increase or decrease in braking force on the basis of whether the fade state is occurring.

A signal indicating an estimated body deceleration and a deceleration indicated by a detection signal from a G sensor are pass through first and second filters having different filter constants. Based on a resulting difference in response speeds thereof, it is determined whether sudden braking, i.e., quick depression, is being performed. If quick depression is determined, then even if an upper limit of a W/C pressure to rear wheels is set in order to prevent rear wheel locking precedent to front wheel locking, the W/C pressure is increased so as to exceed such an upper limit. Thus, a greater deceleration can be achieved than when the W/C pressure at the set upper limit is generated.

Braking force distribution control device

A vehicle braking control system includes a wheel cylinder which applies a braking force in accordance with a fluid pressure to a vehicle wheel and a control device which controls the fluid pressure of the wheel cylinder based on the vehicle wheel acceleration. Then, the control device applies the predetermined fluid pressure to the wheel cylinder so as to acquire a return level of the vehicle wheel acceleration and calculates a control target value of the fluid pressure based on a behavior of the vehicle wheel acceleration after starting a sudden braking operation and before starting ABS control.

If a condition for starting a yaw control during an antiskid control is met while the antiskid control is being executed on one of right and left front wheels during braking on a uneven friction-coeffient road surface, the reference value for making the determination to start the antiskid control on the other one of the front wheels is reduced, and therefore the antiskid control is started at an earlier timing. If the antiskid control is executed on the wheel, the brake pressure of the wheel is controlled in a pre-set specific pattern.

A brake operating speed detecting device includes a plurality of filters having different cut-off frequencies and inputs thereto a vehicle body deceleration that changes at the time of braking. The state of distribution of output values obtained through the filters, or the difference d between the output values, corresponds to the rising speed of the vehicle body deceleration. Because the rising speed corresponds to the brake operating speed, the brake operating speed can be detected from the state of distribution of the output values or the difference d.
