A laser diode module includes a laser diode device, an optical device like a single lens placed in front of the laser diode device for reflecting front radiation emitted from a front surface of the laser diode device, and a photodiode placed at the back of the laser diode device and displaced from an optical axis of an optical system which includes the laser diode device, for detecting radiation reflected from the optical device.

Laser diode module

In a laser diode module of the invention, a coupling optical system is inclined in an xz plane with respect to an optical axis (z axis) of outgoing light of a laser diode. More specifically, a coupling angle &thgr;lens of a laser diode and a lens is adjusted and fixed with a precision of 0.1&deg; while monitoring a light output. By the operation, the coupling angle &thgr;lens is adjusted to an angle at which a light output which can be emitted without causing a kink becomes the maximum. As a result, even when the wavelength of the outgoing light is fixed by using a fiber grating, light can be emitted without causing a kink. Thus, a laser diode module capable of sufficiently increasing the maximum value of a light output can be obtained.
