The present invention provides an ink jet recording method capable of recording an image having good abrasion resistance by using an aqueous ink and a reaction liquid. In the ink jet recording method, the aqueous ink containing a resin particle and the reaction liquid containing a reactant for aggregating the component in the aqueous ink are ejected from a recording head of the ink jet system and applied onto a recording medium. The reaction liquid contains a compound represented by the general formula (1) (n in the formula represents an integer of 0 to 3). At least one of the aqueous ink and the reaction liquid contains a surfactant having an HLB value of ≤15.

Ink jet recording method and ink jet recording apparatus

There is provided an ink jet recording method for recording an image on a recording medium with an aqueous ink and an aqueous reaction liquid containing a reactant that reacts with the aqueous ink. The aqueous ink contains a pigment dispersed by the action of a carboxylic acid group, a resin particle and a water-soluble organic solvent. The rate of increase in the particle size of the pigment dispersed by the action of the carboxylic acid group when the pigment comes into contact with the aqueous reaction liquid is 8.0 times or more. The amount of water absorbed by the recording medium from the start of contact to 30 msecin a Bristow method is 10 mL/mor less.

Provided is an ink jet recording method capable of suppressing deterioration in an ejection property which occurs after a protection layer is eluted by an electrochemical reaction. The ink jet recording method includes using an ink jet recording apparatus having a recording head equipped with a heater, a first protection layer and a second protection layer made of a material such as iridium and a unit of causing an electrochemical reaction with the second protection layer as one of electrodes and an ink-mediated conduction site as the other electrode and ejecting the ink from the recording head to record an image on a recording medium, wherein the ink is an aqueous ink containing a pigment, a resin dispersant for dispersing the pigment and a specified chelating agent.

Provided is an ink jet recording method capable of suppressing deterioration in an ejection property when voltage control of a recording head is performed. The ink jet recording method includes using an ink jet recording apparatus having a recording head equipped with a heater, a first protection layer and a second protection layer made of a metal material, and a unit of applying a voltage with the second protection layer as a cathode and an ink-mediated conduction site as an anode and ejecting the ink from the recording head to record an image on a recording medium, wherein the ink is an aqueous ink containing a component having an anionic group and a soluble metal ion having a standard electrode potential of more than 0 V.

Provided is an ink jet recording method for recording an image on a recording medium by making use of an aqueous reaction liquid containing a reactant and first and second inks which are aqueous inks containing a coloring material. This method has a step of applying the reaction liquid to a first recording medium, a step of applying the first and second inks, in order of mention, to the first recording medium to form a first image and a step of bringing a porous layer of a liquid absorption member into contact with the first image and thereby absorbing a liquid component therefrom. The second image has brightness higher than that of the first ink.

An aqueous ink for use in an ink jet recording method in which ink is thermally ejected from a recording head to record an image on a recording medium. The aqueous ink includes zirconium oxide; a pigment; a resin dispersant for the pigment; and a first and a second urethane resin. The content (ppm) of the zirconium oxide in terms of zirconium is 0.5-20.0 ppm based on the total mass of the ink. The pigment is at least one of phthalocyanine, quinacridone, diketopyrrolopyrrole, dioxazine, perinone, perylene and anthraquinone pigments. Each of the first and second urethane resins has a unit derived from a polyether polyol. The ratio of the weight-average molecular weight Mwof the first urethane resin to the weight-average molecular weight Mwof the second urethane resin is 0.20-0.80 times. The second urethane resin has a weight-average molecular weight Mwof 20,000-70,000.

The present disclosure provides a process for the mono-reduction of one or more imide moieties in a compound comprising contacting the compound with hydrogen gas and a catalyst comprising a transition metal hydride in the presence of a base, under conditions for the mono-reduction of the one or more imide moieties to form a compound comprising one or more hydroxy amides.

Ink, ink cartridge and ink jet recording method

Provided is a pigment particle suitable for an ink capable of recording an image that is excellent in color developability and lightfastness, and has a yellow hue. The pigment particle is a pigment particle having a structure represented by the following formula (1), in which a maximum absorption wavelength of an absorption spectrum in a wavelength region of 200 nm or more and 800 nm or less is present in a range of 340 nm or more and 360 nm or less.
