A leak inspection method and a leak inspection apparatus for a fuel cell stack, in which a plurality of fuel cells are stacked, each having an electrode member and a pair of separators sandwiching the electrode member therebetween, and seal members provided on an outer peripheral portion of each of the separators, wherein a first leak inspection is performed by applying a fastening load which is a load applied to the fuel cell stack at a time of product shipment, and a second leak inspection is performed by applying to the fuel cell stack a second load which is lower than the fastening load.

Leak inspection method and leak inspection apparatus

A method of producing the fuel cell stack, including: a stacking step of stacking a plurality of power generation cells each including a membrane electrode assembly, a pair of separator plates sandwiching the membrane electrode assembly, and a seal member; and a compressing step of applying a compression load to the plurality of power generation cells stacked. In the compressing step, the compression load is applied in a manner that the membrane electrode assembly is plastically deformed, without exceeding an elastic limit of the seal member.

Method of producing fuel cell stack

A first outer peripheral seal in a first metal separator of a fuel cell stack includes a first peripheral metal bead. A first bypass stopper is provided in a space between a first end ridge and a first outer peripheral seal. The first bypass stopper prevents bypassing of an oxygen-containing gas by blocking part of the space. A gap is provided between the first bypass stopper and the first metal bead of a first outer peripheral seal. The gap separates the first bypass stopper from the first metal bead.

Metal separator and fuel cell stack

A fuel cell metal separator is stacked on a membrane electrode assembly to form a power generation cell. The membrane electrode assembly includes an electrolyte membrane and electrodes provided on both sides of the electrolyte membrane, respectively. The fuel cell metal separator includes a bead seal for preventing leakage of a fuel gas, an oxygen-containing gas, or a coolant as fluid. A top of the bead seal is configured to become flat in cross section by application of a compression load to the power generation cell.

A laser machining apparatusincludes: a laser head that is supported by a laser moving device so as to be movable in X, Y, and Z directions above a motor driven conveyor that transports a workpiece loaded thereon. Processing apparatus for gas-diffusion layer sheets

A fuel cell separator (first and second separators) of a fuel cell stack is formed in a plate shape, and includes a passage bead (projection) configured to form a seal that prevents leakage of fluid. The passage bead is formed integrally with a surface of the separator in a manner so as to project from the surface, and when viewed in cross section, is formed in a multistage trapezoidal shape.

Systems and methods including a header flange to evenly distribute contact pressure across seals include, in some aspects, a plate including a bead and a flange edge. The bead includes a bead-side and a bead-corner. The flange edge defines an aperture through the plate. The flange edge also includes a first edge-portion proximate the bead-side and a second edge-portion proximate the bead-corner. The bead-side and the first edge-portion define a first edge-distance therebetween. The bead-corner and the second edge-portion define a second edge-distance therebetween. The second edge-distance is greater than the first edge-distance.

Header flange to evenly distribute contact pressure across seals

A fuel gas supply passage is provided at a central position of one side of opposing sides of a separator. A fuel gas supply passage is provided close to a fuel gas flow field in comparison with any of a plurality of fluid passages provided along the one side. An identification mark of the separator is provided between the fuel gas supply passage and an outer peripheral end of the separator.

Fuel cell separator, fuel cell joint separator, and power generation cell

A fuel cell includes an MEA, a first separator, and a second separator. A frame member is provided around an outer peripheral portion of an MEA, and held between the first separator and the second separator. The height of an oxygen-containing gas flow field formed by the second separator, from the MEA is larger than the height of a fuel gas flow field formed by the first separator, from the MEA. The central position of the MEA in the thickness direction and the central position of the frame member outer peripheral portion of the frame member in the thickness direction are offset from each other.

Fuel cell

A power generation cell or a fuel cell includes an MEA, a first separator, and a second separator. A frame member is provided on an outer peripheral portion of the MEA. The frame member includes a frame member inner peripheral portion and a frame member outer peripheral portion held between the first separator and the second separator. The central position of a power generation area of the MEA in the thickness direction and the central position of the frame member outer peripheral portion in the thickness direction are offset from each other. Further, a first seal line of the first separator and a second seal line of the second separator, sealing the frame member outer peripheral portion, are non-symmetrical with each other.

A first metal separator of a power generation cell includes an oxygen-containing gas supply passage extending through the first metal separator in a separator thickness direction, a passage bead formed around the oxygen-containing gas supply passage, and a plurality of tunnels protruding from a side wall of the passage bead and expanded in the separator thickness direction. The plurality of tunnels have the same shape in cross section of a root connected to the passage bead.

Fuel cell separator and power generation cell

A coolant flow field is formed between first and second metal separator plates of a joint separator (fuel cell separator). First and second beads protrude from the first and second metal separator plates. The beads include inner beads for preventing leakage of a reactant gas. An air release passage and a coolant drain passage extend through the fuel cell separator in a separator thickness direction, and the air release passage and the coolant drain passage are connected to a coolant flow field through a first connection channel and a second connection channel formed by recesses on the back of protrusions of the first and second beads.

A method of manufacturing a plate with an insulating frame by using a metal mold. The plate includes an outer edge portion having a concavo-concave shape, and the metal mold includes a plurality of gate portions for injecting a molding material that forms the frame. The gate portions of the metal mold are at locations that correspond to the concave portions of the metal plate such that when the molding material is injected into the metal mold, an injection pressure of the molding material that can deform the metal plate will not deform the metal plate to an extent that deteriorates insulation resistance that is provided by the frame.
