A traffic condition monitoring system, provided in a base station installed by a side of a road for monitoring a traffic condition based upon communication signals transmitted from mobile terminals in a plurality of vehicles traveling on the road, includes a receiver part operable to receive the communication signals transmitted from the mobile terminals in the respective vehicles to output received signals, a speed/direction estimation part operable to estimate traveling speeds and traveling directions of the respective vehicles based upon the received signals, and a traffic condition analysis part operable to determine effective traveling speeds of the respective vehicles in each traveling direction, to calculate an average traveling speed of a group of vehicles in each traveling direction, and to analyze a traffic condition in each traveling direction based upon the average traveling speed of the group of vehicles in each traveling direction.

A load of a base station can be effectively distributed without decreasing a communication rate of a wireless communication terminal. A wireless communication terminal for use in a wireless network including a first cell and a second cell that include a common portion, the wireless communication terminal comprises a quality calculation means for determining first quality that is wireless quality of the first cell and second quality that is wireless quality of the second cell; a resource number calculation means for determining a first resource number that is the number of available frequency resources in the first cell and a second resource number that is the number of available frequency resources in the second cell; a coefficient calculation means for determining a first cell selection coefficient that is a cell selection coefficient for the first cell based on a result obtained by calculating the first quality and the first resource number, and determining a second cell selection coefficient that is a cell selection coefficient for the second cell based on a result obtained by calculating the second quality and the second resource number; and a cell selection means for selecting one of the first cell and the second cell based on a result of calculation using the first cell selection coefficient and the second cell selection coefficient.

A channel estimation circuit () of an individual CH path demodulation unit (A-L) performs a channel estimation from an individual CH. A channel estimation value correction circuit () of a shared CH path demodulation unit (A-L) then corrects a reception power fluctuation due to uplink transmission power control which is caused by the timing offset between the individual CH and the shared CH. The resultant data is used for the demodulation by a shared CH demodulation circuit ().

A switching circuit () is controlled by an in-slot interface-noise-power-control output circuit () to output an in-slot interface noise power (-) to a past-slot interference-noise-power memory (), if there is no estimated value for an interference noise power of finger n of one slot before. If the interference noise power of the one slot before is not estimated and yet there exists an interference noise power which has been once estimated, the past-slot interference-noise-power memory () stores therein an interference noise power in a last slot which has been valid. An inter-slot averaging processing is performed between the interference noise power (-) from the past-slot interference-noise-power memory () and an estimated value (-) for the interference noise power in the current slot.

The N peaks are selected from a delay profile in order starting from the highest peak involved in the delay profile, the path level and path timing are determined for each of the selected peaks, and the identical paths individually responsible for different delay profiles are detected by comparing the path timings calculated for the preceding time and the path timings calculated for the present time. Based of the path levels calculated for the preceding time and the path levels calculated for the present time, averaged path levels are computed on a path-by-path basis for the present time, a predetermined threshold is applied to the computed average path levels, and the paths to be allocated to the fingers are selected. Of the path timings that have been obtained for respective selected paths, the latest path timings are allocated to the fingers as synchronization timings.

Method and apparatus for CDMA signal reception

An array antenna transceiver includes an antenna section, N transceiver blocks, a common reference signal generating section and a transceiver control section. The antenna section has antenna elements. The N transceiver blocks are connected to the antenna elements. Each of the N transceiver blocks generates an individual reference signal. The transceiver block carries out transmission of a transmission signal and reception of a reception signal based on an common reference signal using a corresponding antenna element as a part of an array antenna in an array mode and based on said individual reference signal using the corresponding antenna element as an individual antenna element in an individual mode. The common reference signal generating section supplies the common reference signal to the N transceiver blocks. The transceiver control section sets said array mode when said common reference signal is used, and said individual mode when said individual reference signal is used.
