A method of forming a solder film on a metallic surface such as a pad of a metallic circuit of a printed circuit board and a lead frame of electronic parts, which is capable of forming a precise and fine pattern and which comprises selectively imparting tackiness to only a predetermined part of the metallic surface by means of a tacky layer-forming solution containing at least one compound selected from benzotriazole derivatives, naphthotriazole derivatives, imidazole derivatives, benzoimidazole derivatives, mercaptobenzothiazole derivatives, benzothiazole thiofatty acid derivatives, and triazine derivatives, adhering a powdered solder to the resulting tacky part, and then melting the solder by heating to thereby form a solder film.

Solid state imaging device and image read apparatus with polygonal photosensitive pixels

A gradient-index optical element comprises SiO,, BaO, and TiO,as essential components, and has a refractive index profile in its diametrical direction. The molar ratio of barium to silicon at the center of the element in its diametrical direction is limited to Ba/Si&gE;0.4. This gradient-index optical element has a small refractive index difference with reduced chromatic aberrations and, hence, is suitable for use with optical equipment.

A solid-state imaging element includes a color filter which selectively transmits an optical image in color components, and in which a plurality of colors are arranged as one group in a sequential plural group configuration, a photoelectric converter for receiving an optical image that has passed through the color filter and for converting the received optical image to electric signals, and combining circuitry for combining at least two of the electric signals correlating to the colors of one group of the color filter converted by the photoelectric converter. In a dot-sequential type color linear sensor, shift gates that are independent for each color respectively are provided in pixel units on both sides of a dot-sequentially arranged light sensitive image element array on which image elements of first, second and third colors are arranged. Two transmission registers are arranged on one side of the light sensitive image element array for use with a first color, and the number of register columns of the first color transmission registers are set to be one-half that of second and third color registers. In addition, during the black/white mode, the signal charges of the three colors are added using transmission registers on the one side of the array and the signal charges are output in parallel. Also, an image reading device which includes a solid-state imaging element, wherein the imaging element is arranged in the main scanning direction, and further including an optical scanning system for optically scanning the original document in the direction of secondary scanning, and for irradiating the optical image to the imaging surface of said solid-state imaging element.

An image sensor includes a plurality of photosensitive pixel lines adjacent to each other in the sub-scanning direction, each of the photosensitive pixel lines having a number of photosensitive pixels arranged in the main scanning direction, and horizontal transfer registers disposed outside of the photosensitive pixel lines. A storage part for saving therein signal charges on a pixel-by-pixel basis is interposed between the photosensitive pixel lines and the horizontal transfer registers. Transfer of signal charges between the photosensitive pixel lines, storage part, and horizontal transfer registers are controlled by operating shift gates so that at a time point when exposure of the inside photosensitive pixel line has been finished, signal charges of the outside photosensitive pixel line is saved into the storage part to thereby secure a transfer passage for signal charges of the inside photosensitive pixel line.

A gradient index optical element comprises a component capable of absorbing light unnecessary for image formation and observation. The optical element is made according to a solgel process wherein a gradient index glass or plastic body is initially made and then incorporated with a light-absorbing component such as CuO and FeO that absorbs unnecessary light. The optical element has a filter function for eliminating light unnecessary for image formation and observation. A lens system having a reduced number of optical elements is realized.

Each signal line connected to one light receiving element array is placed between switching transistors of the switching transistor array corresponding to another light receiving element array over the entire light receiving element arrays, so that the wiring capacity values occurring in the signal lines can be made uniform. High-quality image signals excellent in half tone reproducibility with few variations in dark output and a wide dynamic range of sensor output can be provided.

An image input apparatus capable of reliably reducing random noise and switching noise arising during a dummy pixel period using a simple circuit configuration and providing a high-quality video signal without horizontal lines. The image input apparatus is provided with a clamping circuit made up of a capacitor for feeding an analog image signal supplied from a CCD solid-state image pickup element via a first amplifier to a second amplifier through an alternating-current link, a reference voltage source for generating a predetermined reference voltage VR, and a first switch for effecting switching during the dummy pixel period of the CCD solid-state image pickup element. The clamping circuit is further provided with a resistor disposed between the capacitor and the second amplifier, and a second switch for selectively bridging across the resistor 152. This second switch is complimentarily activated in relation to the operation of the first switch.

A gradient index optical element is disclosed which comprises a surface perpendicular to an optical axis, this surface having points of equal refractive index whose connection provides substantially elliptic lines. This gradient index optical element can be produced, for example, by first pouring a raw material sol into a vessel suited for preparing a rodlike base material comprising a surface perpendicular to its lengthwise direction, said surface having the shape of a rectangle, a rhombus or a polygon symmetrical with respect to its center of gravity, each as is, or having a rounded or elliptical corner subsequently converting the sol to a gel, then subjecting the gel to distribution providing treatment and finally drying and firing the distribution providing gel. A gradient index optical element having, along its X- and Y-directions, refractive index distribution profiles different from each other can be produced at low cost, which permits one construct an optical system suitable for use in a technique of effecting image compression along a lateral direction and which attains a substantial miniaturization of a lens system, for example, a TV lens system.

A gradient index silicate glass is disclosed, which comprises a silicate glass and, incorporated therein, barium, at least one first metal selected from the group consisting of lead, titanium, niobium and tantalum and at least one second metal selected from the group consisting of potassium and sodium. The barium and the first and second metals have either protrudent and recessed concentration distribution profiles, respectively, or recessed and protrudent concentration distribution profiles, respectively. The gradient index silicate glass has a dispersion distribution of A DIRECTION permitting a highly effective optical design, and can be stably produced at low cost on a large commercial scale.
