A grating coupler includes: a first optical waveguide chip; a second optical waveguide chip; and a transparent member. The first optical waveguide chip includes a first substrate, a first waveguide grating, and a first chip end surface. The second optical waveguide chip includes a second waveguide grating and a second chip top surface. Between a first light incident/exit surface of the first optical waveguide chip and a second light incident/exit surface of the second optical waveguide chip, an optical path of light within an operating wavelength range of the grating coupler is filled with the transparent member.

The operational continuity of a programmable device, and a controller using the same is enhanced. A programmable device is configured with: an error check mechanism that detects, and notifies an error from redundantized user logic blocks; a previous value retaining section that is connected to an output terminal of a last user logic block, and takes in, and outputs an output value of the user logic blocks in each control period; a CRAM check section that receives a scan interrupt due to an error occurrence notification received from the error check mechanism, reads a scan region on the CRAM, implements error detection, and error correction, and notifies a success or failure of the error correction; and an error handling section that transmits an instruction for retaining a previous output of the user logic blocks to the previous value retaining section when the error occurrence notification is received, transmits an instruction for cancelling previous-value retention to the previous value retaining section, and also transmits a logical reset instruction to a user logic block relevant to an error when a notification of a success of the error correction is received from the CRAM check section.

A pyranometer is provided which can measure the precise amount of solar radiation/solar irradiance continuously and stably while suppressing the generation of dew or frost by a simple configuration even in changing external environment. A pyranometer includes: a housing having an opening, and having thermal conductivity; a dome provided at the opening, and having light transmittance; a sensor part provided in an internal space formed by the housing and the dome, and for measuring an intensity of a sunlight made incident through the dome; and a heat generating element provided heat conductably to a part of the housing, opposite to the opening across the internal space.

The curves of the grating lines are constructed such that the emitting beam is shaped for efficient coupling to another optical component. The curves can also be tilted to reduce coupling back into the waveguide.
