A disadvantage such as loss of life to a bearing of an indoor fan motor may occur when the number of rotations of the indoor fan falls below a predetermined number of rotations. An indoor unit includes a fan, a casing, a first horizontal flap, a second horizontal flap, and an indoor controller. The casing accommodates the fan, and has a blow-out port through which air provided by the fan is blown out. The indoor controller performs opening and closing operations to bring the first and second horizontal flaps into a first state in decreasing an airflow volume to be blown out through the blow-out port. In the first state, the first horizontal flap is in a position to open a first portion of the blow-out port while the second horizontal flap is in or substantially in a position to close a second portion of the blow-out port.

Air blower

An air conditioner includes a cross-flow fan having a cylindrical shape, and a heat exchanger disposed on an upstream side of an air flow of the cross-flow fan. The cross-flow fan includes a plurality of impellers. Each of the impellers includes a plurality of blades arranged in a circumferential direction. A clearance is formed between the cross-flow fan and the heat exchanger. The clearance has a dimension no more than 20% of a diameter of each of the impeller. The impellers are arranged with at least one of the blades displaced between each adjacent two of the impellers. A number of the impellers arranged along a rotation axis is at least 14 and no more than 30 in the cross-flow fan.

Air conditioner

This indoor unit of an air conditioner includes an indoor unit main body having an inlet and an outlet; a heat exchanger; and a cross-flow fan configured to blow out air, which has undergone heat exchange by the heat exchanger. The cross-flow fan has a blow-out flow path that is configured such that a cross-sectional area gradually increases downward, with the blow-out flow path guiding blown-out air to the outlet. When a distance in the lower wall from an intersection, where a tangent inscribing a tongue of the cross-flow fan orthogonally intersects the lower wall, to a lower end of the indoor unit main body is referred to as distance L, a ratio (L/D) of the distance L to outer diameter D of an impeller of the cross-flow fan is less than 0.05. At least part of the blow-out flow path is formed to project out of the outlet at least when air conditioning operation is performed.

Indoor unit of air conditioner

A cross-flow fan made of resin includes first and second fan blocks joined together. The first fan block includes a first support plate, plural first blades connected to the first support plate, and a first outer peripheral ring having a first ring portion that interconnects outer ends of the plural first blades. The second fan block includes a second support plate, plural second blades having second one-side distal ends connected to the second support plate, and a second outer peripheral ring having a second ring portion that interconnects outer ends of the plural second blades adjacent second other-side distal ends of the plural second blades. The second other-side distal ends of the plural second blades are joined to the first support plate, and the first support plate and the second outer peripheral ring are disposed adjacent to each other.

Cross-flow fan

Wind noise is suppressed while an air-blowing performance is maintained. An indoor unitof an air conditioner includes a cross flow fanand a rear guiderand a stabilizerwhich are provided on the respective sides of the outer periphery of the cross flow fanto form an air passage. Each of the rear guiderand the stabilizerhas, at least at a part in the axial direction which part is on the leading end side, twisted portions. In the circumferential direction of the cross flow fan, each twisted portionis deviated from the axial direction of the cross flow fangradually from one end to the other end.

A cross-flow fan includes a disc-shaped or circular annular support plate, plural blades extending in a lengthwise direction from the support plate, and an auxiliary ring. The auxiliary ring has a ring portion that is positioned on a lengthwise direction intermediate section of the plural blades and is disposed on an outside of outer ends of the plural blades, and plural connection portions that extend from the ring portion as far as spaces between adjacent blades of the plural blades and are joined to the blades in the spaces between adjacent blades.
