A metal-oxygen cell capable of improving cycle performance is provided. The metal-oxygen cellincludes a positive electrodethat contains an oxygen storage material and uses oxygen as an active material, a negative electrodethat uses a metal as an active material, and an electrolyte layersandwiched between the positive electrodeand the negative electrodeand containing an electrolyte solution, effecting cell reactions of the positive electrodeon a surface of the oxygen storage material. The positive electrodecontains a conductive polymer that is capable of suppressing permeation of oxygen and conducting metal ions and covers at least a part of the surface of the oxygen storage material.

There is provided a metal oxygen battery which is capable of obtaining superior batter capacity when starting use from charging. Metal oxygen battery

There is provided a metal oxygen battery which uses an oxygen-storing material containing YMnOas a positive electrode material, and can reduce the discharge overpotential. The metal oxygen batteryhas a positive electrodeto which oxygen is applied as an active substance, a negative electrodeto which metallic lithium is applied as an active substance, and an electrolyte layerinterposed between the positive electrodeand the negative electrode. The positive electrodecontains, as an oxygen-storing material, a composite metal oxide obtained by crushing and mixing a yttrium salt, a manganese salt and an organic acid, primarily calcining the mixture, and thereafter, adding a zirconium salt to the obtained primarily calcined material, and secondarily calcining the mixture, the composite metal oxide containing YMnOand ZrO.

A plasma display device comprises a first panel provided with discharge sustaining electrodes and a dielectric layer on the inside thereof, and a second panel laminated on the first panel so as to form discharge spaces on the inside, wherein the dielectric layer comprises a silicon oxide layer having a density of not less than 6.1&times;10 atoms/cm . Plasma display panel

An electron emission source includes a plurality of strip-like cathode electrode lines formed on a lower substrate, an insulating layer formed on the cathode electrode lines; and a plurality of strip-like gate electrode lines formed on the insulating layer in such a manner as to intersect the cathode electrode lines, wherein a number of fine holes are formed in each of intersections between the cathode electrode lines and the gate electrode lines. The intersection forms a pixel region corresponding to one pixel of a display. The fine holes pass through the gate electrode lines and the insulating layer and reach the cathode electrode lines. A metal made projecting structure having a trapezoidal shape in cross-section is formed in each of the fine holes in such a manner as to project from the bottom of the fine hole. An electron emission portion on the surface of which carbon nano-tubes are erected is formed on the upper surface of the projecting structure. Such an electron emission source is effective to realize a low voltage drive, make the current amount uniform, avoid the extension of electron beams, prolong the service life, and prevent occurrence of short-circuit between the electrodes upon production.

A method and apparatus for detecting position deviation of an electron gun in which, by increasing the light utilization efficiency to render the field of sight lighter and by reducing the amount of reflected light from the grid surface, the reflected light from the electron beam emitting surface is lighter to enable an edge of an electron beam transmitting hole to be discerned accurately to detect the position deviation of the electron gun accurately. The linear polarized light is illuminated on the electron gun and the light reflected by this electron gun is observed by a light polarization unit to detect the position deviation between grids of the electron gun.

This invention relates to a fluorescent screen structure wherein a plurality of first electrodes (for example stripelike selected electrodes) having a plurality of fluorescent substances (especially fluorescent substances of different colors for a color screen) severally deposited thereon and second electrodes (for example stripelike reverse bias electrodes not for electrodeposition) not having the fluorescent substances deposited thereon between these first electrodes are provided on a common base (especially a glass substrate for a fluorescent screen panel) and a field emission display (FED) using this and methods for manufacturing these. According to the invention, even in such cases as when pillars for supporting a high vacuum are formed in an FED, a uniform fluorescent screen can be obtained without the pillars constituting an obstruction and a fluorescent substance can be deposited in such a way that it will not subsequently impair the level of a vacuum in a display in which the fluorescent screen is used and also a fluorescent substance can be deposited in a pattern such as a narrow stripe pattern having fine widths and fine pitches highly precisely and without mixed colors and with good manufacturability.

Method for manufacturing a fluorescent screen display

A fluorescent screen display panel includes selectively deposited fluorescent material on a plurality of color-coated transparent electrodes that are formed on a base member. A spacer support layer is formed on the base member between groups of the color-coated transparent electrodes and a further electrode is formed on the spacer support layer. The further electrode is not coated with fluorescent material. Spacer members that support a display panel are also formed on the spacer support layer.
