A production method comprising: adding a hydroxycarboxylic acid to an aqueous solution containing a Ce salt, a Zr salt, an Al salt, and at least one selected from a La salt, an Mg salt, and a Ca salt, to produce a gel, heating the gel to obtain a solid product by decomposition of the salts, firing the solid product to obtain a fired product containing a ceria-zirconia-based regular array phase precursor and an aluminate-based composite oxide precursor, performing a reducing heat treatment of the fired product to obtain a first composite having mutually dispersed therein a pyrochlore phase and an aluminate-based composite oxide, and performing an oxidizing heat treatment of the first composite to obtain a second composite in which at least part of the pyrochlore phase is transformed into a &#x3ba; phase; and an oxygen storage material having mutually dispersed therein the composite oxide and the regular array phase.

Production method of oxygen storage material

A satisfactory oxygen storage material and a method for producing it are provided. The oxygen storage material comprises zirconia particles with a ceria-zirconia complex oxide supported on the zirconia particles. The ceria-zirconia complex oxide includes a pyrochlore phase and has a mean crystallite diameter of 10 nm to 22.9 nm.

Catalyst for exhaust gas purification, and method for producing same

Exhaust gas purification catalyst and production method thereof

An exhaust purifying apparatus of an internal combustion engine is provided. The exhaust purifying apparatus includes a CO oxidation catalyst disposed in the exhaust flow passage of an internal combustion engine and capable of oxidizing and thereby purifying CO in the exhaust, and an HC adsorbent material loaded with a noble metal, for adsorbing HC in the exhaust. The exhaust purifying apparatus further includes an NOx adsorbent material for adsorbing NOx in the exhaust. These adsorbent materials are located on the upstream side in the exhaust flow direction with respect to the CO oxidation catalyst and disposed in order from the upstream. The CO oxidation catalyst contains Pd and CeOand is obtained by an oxidation treatment at a temperature of 850 to 950&#xb0; C. The amount of Pd supported in the CO oxidation catalyst is from 0.1 to 2.5 mass % based on CeO.

An exhaust gas purifying catalyst, which is obtained by having at least one platinum group metal selected from the group consisting of Pt, Rh, and Pd supported on a calcined aluminum phosphate body. The calcined aluminum phosphate body has a tridymite crystal structure and the ratio of the cumulative pore distribution of pores having a size of 10 nm or less to the cumulative pore distribution of pores having a size of 300 nm or less is 20% or more in the calcined aluminum phosphate body. A method for producing an exhaust gas purifying catalyst including calcining aluminum phosphate, which has been obtained from an aqueous solution that is controlled to have a pH within a predetermined range, at a predetermined temperature for a predetermined period of time, thereby obtaining a calcined aluminum phosphate body; and having at least one platinum group metal selected from the group consisting of Pt, Rh, and Pd supported on the calcined aluminum phosphate body.
