A liquid crystal polyester amide of the present invention includes 10 mol % to 65 mol % of a structural unit represented by the following formula (1), 3 mol % to 17.5 mol % of a structural unit represented by the following formula (2), 5 mol % to 20 mol % of a structural unit represented by the following formula (3), 7.5 mol % to 42 mol % in total of at least one of a structural unit represented by the following formula (4-1) and a structural unit represented by the following formula (4-2), and 2.5 mol % to 40 mol % in total of at least one of a structural unit represented by the following formula (5-1) and a structural unit represented by the following formula (5-2), and has a melting point of 300&#xb0; C. or higher.

Fully-aromatic thermotropic liquid crystal polyester resin composition, molded object, and LED reflector

A liquid crystal polyester resin composition for camera modules is used, the composition including, based on 100 parts by mass of the composition as a whole, (A) 49.5 to 69.5 parts by mass of a liquid crystal polyester, (B) 30.0 to 50.0 parts by mass of an irregular form or spherical powder having a Mohs hardness of 5 or higher and a primary particle diameter of 5 &#x3bc;m or less, and (C) 0.5 to 5.0 parts by mass of carbon black. The use of the resin composition allows a reduction in the amount of dust generated (particles falling off) during the production of the camera, the use of the camera, and the operation of the camera modules. The resin composition has high surface hardness, is excellent in balance between heat resistance, stiffness, moldability, and resistance to falling of particles off a surface, and causes no malfunction during autofocus control.

A resin composition for surface-mountable (SMT) camera modules which is excellent in the balance between heat resistance, rigidity, strength or moldability and surface exfoliation characteristics is provided by using a liquid-crystal polyester resin composition which comprises 100 parts by mass of a liquid-crystal polyester, 15 to 60 parts by mass of talc having a number-mean particle diameter of 10 to 50 &#x3bc;m, 25 to 50 parts by mass of glass fiber having a number-mean fiber length of 100 to 200 &#x3bc;m, 6 to 20 parts by mass of titanium oxide, and 2 to 10 parts by mass of carbon black and which exhibits a melt viscosity of 10 to 100 Pa S as determined at a shear rate of 100 secand 370&#xb0; C. and a deflection temperature under load of 220&#xb0; C. or above.

Liquid crystal polyester resin composition for camera module

A liquid crystal polyester resin composition includes, based on 100 parts by mass of a liquid crystal polyester, 15 to 60 parts by mass of talc having a number average particle size of 10 to 50 &#x3bc;m, 25 to 50 parts by mass of a glass fiber having a number average fiber length of 100 to 200 &#x3bc;m and a number average fiber diameter of 4 to 8 &#x3bc;m, and 2 to 10 parts by mass of carbon black, wherein a melt viscosity as determined at a shear rate of 100 secat 370&#xb0; C. is 10 to 100 Pa&#xb7;S and a deflection temperature under load is 220&#xb0; C. or more. The liquid crystal polyester resin composition is used to provide a liquid crystal polyester resin composition for a camera module, having good heat resistance, rigidity, strength, and moldability, and also an excellent surface exfoliation property in a well balanced manner and being capable of being surface mounted (SMT).

A wholly aromatic liquid crystal polyester resin composition for injection molding, formed by melt-kneading 100 parts by mass of a wholly aromatic liquid crystal polyester resin, and 5 to 20 parts by mass of glass fibers having a number average diameter of 5 to 20 &#x3bc;m and an aspect ratio of 5 or more, the wholly aromatic liquid crystal polyester resin being formed by polycondensation of 60 to 70 mol % of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, 40 to 30 mol % of terephthalic acid and 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl combined, and 0 to 5 mol % of isophthalic acid and/or terephthalic acid (for all of these, derivatives thereof are included, and the total of these is 100 mol %). This composition has excellent damping properties, and is suitable for a molding material of an optical pickup lens holder for short type pickups for use in high-speed DVD systems and playback pickups for use in Blu-ray systems.

Wholly aromatic liquid crystal polyester composition and optical pickup lens holder using same

An optical pickup lens holder which comprises a wholly aromatic liquid crystalline polyester resin composition comprising 97 to 45 mass percent of a wholly aromatic liquid crystalline polyester having a melting point of 320&#xb0; C. or higher, 3 to 50 mass percent of an inorganic spherical hollow material having an aspect ratio of 2 or less and 0 to 30 mass percent of an inorganic filler having as aspect ratio of 4 or more, wherein the percentages are made to 100 mass percent in total, and having a specific gravity in the range of 1.00 to 1.35. The lens holder exhibits excellent characteristics, while retaining good heat resistance in soldering and good processability inherent in a liquid crystalline polyester, exhibits high injection processability and high adaptability to a soldering process even in a sheet form lens holder having a thin part and an opening port.

Wholly aromatic liquid crystal polyester resin composition and optical pickup lens holder

A molded product of a wholly aromatic liquid crystal polyester resin composition having a dielectric constant of 3.0 or less and a dielectric dissipation factor of 0.04 or less and is obtained by an injection molding of a composition comprising 90 to 45 percent by weight of the wholly aromatic liquid crystal polyester having a melting point of 320C or more, 10 to 40 percent by weight of an inorganic spherical hollow material having an aspect ratio of 2 or less, and 0 to 15 percent by weight of an inorganic filler having an aspect ratio of 4 or more. The molded product has dielectric properties suitable for information and telecommunications equipment, and is excellent in solder heat resistance, processability, and dimensional stability. The molded product is advantageous as a substrate material for use in information and telecommunications equipment such as a cellular mobile phone and as a fixing/holding member of a transmitter-receiver element.

Wholly aromatic liquid crystal polyester resin molded product

Disclosed is a resin composition produced by melt-kneading a white pigment and a wholly aromatic thermotropic liquid crystal polyester. The resin composition can retain the excellent heat resistance and moldability of the wholly aromatic thermotropic liquid crystal polyester and have a satisfactory level of white light reflectance. The resin composition comprises 35 to 100 parts by weight of a white pigment particle and 100 parts by weight of a wholly aromatic thermotropic liquid crystal polyester, wherein the white pigment particle comprises 3 to 15 mass % of aluminum oxide and 97 to 85 mass % of a white pigment produced by a process including a roasting step and having a surface treated with the aluminum oxide (provided that the sum total of the white pigment and aluminum oxide is defined as 100 mass %). The resin composition can be produced by a process including a melt-kneading step.

Wholly aromatic thermotropic liquid crystal polyester resin composition, injection molded article thereof, and optical device using the molded article

A method of producing a thermotropic liquid crystalline copolyester having an extremely small amount of out-gases comprising the steps of: (1) charging in a reactor 5-100 mol % of aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid, 0-47.5 mol % of aromatic dicarboxylic acid and 0-47.5 mol % of aromatic diol, so that the sum of mol % of each material is 100 mol % and the molt of aromatic dicarboxylic acid and that of aromatic diol are substantially equal; (2) adding acetic anhydride of an amount which satisfies the formula, (B-C)/A&gE;1.04, &ldquo;A&rdquo; representing the total molar number of the hydroxy group in a reaction system, &ldquo;B&rdquo; representing the molar number of acetic anhydride to be added, and &ldquo;C&rdquo; representing the molar number of water present in the reaction system prior to addition of acetic anhydride; (3) acetylation; (4) melt polymerization; and (5) solid-phase polymerization.

Method of producing thermotropic liquid crystalline copolyester, thermotropic liquid crystalline copolyester composition obtained by the same method, and molding made of the same composition

A method of producing a thermotropic liquid crystalline copolyester having an extremely small amount of out-gases comprising the steps of: (1) charging in a reactor 5-100 mol % of aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid, 0-47.5 mol % of aromatic dicarboxylic acid and 0-47.5 mol % of aromatic diol, so that the sum of mol % of each material is 100 mol % and the mol % of aromatic dicarboxylic acid and that of aromatic diol are substantially equal; (2) adding acetic anhydride of an amount which satisfies the formula, (B&minus;C)/A&gE;1.04, &ldquo;A&rdquo; representing the total molar number of the hydroxy group in a reaction system, &ldquo;B&rdquo; representing the molar number of acetic anhydride to be added, and &ldquo;C&rdquo; representing the molar number of water present in the reaction system prior to addition of acetic anhydride; (3) acetylation; (4) melt polymerization; and (5) solid-phase polymerization.

A thermotropic liquid crystal polyester and a sealing material used for electric and electronic parts prepared from the thermotropic liquid crystal polyester, which polyester can be molded at low temperatures, while which polyester has heat resistance capable of well withstanding the process such as soldering. The thermotropic liquid crystal polyester is characterized in that it contains five kinds of specified repeating structural units in the respective ratios and it meets specific conditions of an intrinsic viscosity or the temperature of complete melting and storage elastic modulus.
