A sheet of nonwoven fabric which has surface irregularities, the shape of the surface irregularities being less apt to be changed by external pressure, etc. The sheet has a machine, cross and thickness directions which are perpendicular to one another. The upper surface has a plurality of protrusions continuously extending, in parallel, in the cross direction and further has a plurality of recesses that are located between the adjacent protrusions and extend in the cross direction. The sheet includes first and second fibrous layers located on the upper-surface side and the lower-surface side, respectively. The first fibrous layer comprises heat-fusible fibers, and the second fibrous layer comprises coil-shaped three-dimensional crimp fibers that are oriented mainly in the machine direction and form a network by entanglement thereof without having been fused at the sites where the crimp fibers cross one another.

It is an object of the invention to provide a moisture-permeable and waterproof film that is biodegradable, has high biomass and exhibits high flexibility. The moisture-permeable and waterproof film comprises polylactic acid and an inorganic filler, wherein the film has high-stretch regions (H) and low-stretch regions (L) each parallel to a first direction and alternating in the direction perpendicular to the first direction, the film has bending resistance in the range of 15-30 mm, and the film has moisture permeability in the range of 2,000-4,000 g/m/24 hours.

When the nonwoven fabric is placed on a horizontal plane with the back side put in contact with the horizontal plate, highly void regions are formed between the back side and the horizontal plane. In the vicinity of apices of the respective ridges, the short fibers slope down so as to extend in a thickness direction of the nonwoven fabric.

A multilayer nonwoven fabric includes a first fiber layer and a second fiber layer laminated and arranged on a first surface of the first fiber layer. Core material of a bodily fluid-absorbent structure is formed of an aggregation of fluff wood pulp fibers. The aggregation has a basis mass in a range of 150 to 500 g/mand a specific volume in a range of 3 to 20 cc/g. In the aggregation, a relationship between horizontal orientation index Iand specific volume VSP of fluff wood pulp fibers is represented by a formula as follows:Iis less than or equal to &#x2212;0.099VSP+2.4.

A liquid-pervious fibrous non-woven fabric includes staple fibers made of thermoplastic synthetic resin fused together which is formed on its upper surface with a plurality of ridges, and a plurality of grooves extending in parallel in a longitudinal direction. An absorbent article comprising nonwoven fabric having convex and concave surfaces, and that allows liquid such as excreta and the like to permeate quickly. A sanitary napkin has a plurality of raised ridge portions and groove portions in a top sheet member. The fiber density of the side edge portions of each of the plurality of raised ridge portions in the thickness direction of the nonwoven fabric is substantially uniform, and is higher than the average fiber density in the raised ridge portions. The fiber density of the central portion between both the side edge portions of each of the plurality of raised ridge portions is substantially uniform in the thickness direction of the nonwoven fabric, and is lower than the average fiber density in the raised ridge portions.
