A communication system includes: a communication device; and a data receiver that is configured so as to be capable of being connected to the communication device. The communication device includes: a content summary receiving unit that is configured so as to be capable of receiving content summary data transmitted from an external device, the content summary data including at least positional data and title data for content data; and a positional data transmitting unit. The data receiver includes a scheduled port querying unit that is configured to transmit to the communication device a query querying the communication device for a scheduled port. The communication device further includes: a scheduled port notifying unit that, upon receiving the scheduled port query from the data receiver, transmits to the data receiver a scheduled port notification indicating the scheduled port. The data receiver further includes: a determining unit that determines whether the scheduled port indicated in the scheduled port notification is available; and an availability notifying unit that transmits to the communication device an availability notification indicating the scheduled port that is determined as being available. The communication device further includes: an active port setting unit that sets the scheduled port indicated by the availability notification as an active port; and an active port notifying unit that transmits to the data receiver an active port notification indicating the active port. The positional data transmitting unit transmits the positional data for the content data to the data receiver through the active port at a prescribed timing and according to the prescribed communication protocol.

A communication system includes a communication terminal, a computer transmitting addressee identification information to the communication terminal, a computer-side fetching unit fetching the addressee identification information from a computer-side store unit, a computer-side output unit that outputs the fetched addressee identification information to the terminal in case of communication, a retrieval information input unit located in the terminal and operated for input of retrieval information relating the addressee identification information, an instruction unit located in the terminal to instruct the computer to retrieve the addressee identification information, the instruction unit instructing the computer to fetch the addressee identification information based on the retrieval information supplied by an operator, and a terminal side display that displays the outputted data so that the desired addressee identification information is selected at the terminal side.

An internet facsimile machine capable of facsimile transmission via an internet to an addressee includes an identification information input circuit for inputting user identification information of an address of an addressee, a predetermined information input/selection circuit for inputting or selecting a predetermined piece of information so that information relating to a user in the address of the addressee is narrowed, a storage unit for storing a large amount of information about the user, a candidate presenting circuit for presenting a candidate for information relating to the user in the address of the addressee by relating the predetermined information input or selected by the input/selection circuit to the information about the user stored in the storage unit, a presented candidate determining circuit for determining only one candidate when said one candidate is presented by the candidate presenting circuit, and for selecting and determining either or any one of two or more candidates when said two or more candidates are presented by the candidate presenting circuit, and a transmission instruction circuit for instructing execution of internet transmission according to an address determined by the identification information input circuit and the presented candidate determining circuit.

Internet facsimile machine

The invention provides a image duplicating apparatus capable of forming images for duplication using standard four ink colors in a standard color style, or using more ink colors than the standard ink colors when duplicating images read from an original on a recording paper. A CPU determines which of the single-copying mode, where images read from the original are duplicated on a sheet of the recording paper, or the multi-copying mode, where images read from the original are duplicated on the sheets of the recording paper, is set. When it is determined that the multi-copying mode is set, the CPU starts duplicating in the standard color style. When it is determined that the single-copying mode is set, the CPU starts duplicating in the fine color style.

Image duplicating apparatus and storage medium

A facsimile apparatus is capable of automatically transmitting image data through two communication routes, a communication route via an internet and a public communication switched network. The facsimile apparatus has the capability of establishing a priority order for transmitting data through the two communication routes. In a normal transmission, the data will be transmitted through the highest priority communication route. In another mode, if communication cannot be made through the first communication route, normally the highest priority communication route, the system will automatically attempt to transmit the data through the second communication route. In a final mode, when it is determined that a transmission is urgent, the apparatus executes a two-route transmission operation. In the two-route transmission operation, if e-mail is the highest priority, the apparatus transmits the data together with e-mail to a personal computer of the addressee via the internet. Then, the apparatus transmits the image data to a facsimile apparatus of the addressee through the public communication switched network. The converse is true if the public communication switched network is the priority. Thus, the apparatus increases the likelihood that the addressee will be aware of and see the data as soon as possible, providing an advantage in the transmission of an urgent matter.
