A controller receives a signal indicating an operating amount and an operating direction of a steering member. When the operating amount of the steering member is greater than or equal to a steering threshold, the controller causes right and left propulsion devices to generate thrusts oriented in opposite directions in a back-and-forth direction such that a vessel body is turned in a corresponding direction to the operating direction of the steering member.

A small craft includes a craft body, a propulsion device configured to propel the craft body, a position acquisition portion configured to acquire positional information about a trailer on which the craft body is loadable, and a controller configured to control the propulsion device on the basis of the positional information about the trailer acquired by the position acquisition portion during an operation for releasing the craft body from the trailer and/or an operation for attaching the craft body to the trailer.

A jet propulsion unit for a small watercraft including a secondary thrust arrangement. The secondary thrust arrangement includes a primary valve and a secondary valve arrangement. At least one discharge port is disposed on a hull of the watercraft. A jet propulsion unit is configured to discharge pressurized water from the steering nozzle in a substantially rearward direction from the watercraft or to discharge pressurized water through at least one discharge port disposed in the outer surface of the hull to achieve enhanced steering control of the watercraft.

Secondary thrust arrangement for small watercraft

A watercraft includes a ventilation system for ventilating the engine compartment and for providing air for induction into the watercraft engine. An air duct extends through the hull and communicates with the engine compartment. An induction box is attached to a deck of the hull and encloses a space around the air duct. The induction box is sized so that pressure pulses are dissipated within the box. A portion of an outer edge of the induction box is cut way, forming an opening through which air can flow. A cowling substantially covers the induction box. Another structural aspect includes a pair of air ducts, each having an associated induction box. An opening of one induction box is generally forwardly facing. An opening of the other induction box is generally rearwardly facing.

Ventilation system for watercraft

An air supply conduit system for a watercraft having an air breathing internal combustion engine within the watercraft interior includes at least one air supply conduit extending from an outlet end located in the watercraft interior to an inlet end located outside the watercraft. A noise suppressing resonating chamber connected to the air supply conduit damps noise from the internal combustion engine from the outlet end of the conduit towards the inlet end thereof. The air supply conduit may be positioned within the watercraft to minimize entrapment of liquid within the conduit and the noise suppressing resonating chamber. An inlet fitting including a noise suppressor is located at the inlet end of the conduit.

An improved mounting arrangement for a twin jet propulsion unit eases the assembly of the system, as well as enhances the performance of the system. A unified mounting plate supports the propulsion units and offer a degree of adjustability which permits the propulsion units to be precisely aligned with desired longitudinal axes defined by the watercraft hull, as well as with each other. In addition, the rigidity provided by the mounting plates tends to hold the propulsion units, which cantilever rearward from the mounting plates, in the desired positions. As a result, additional support structure and fasteners can be removed from between the jet propulsion units and they can be spaced closer together so as to generally match a desired spacing between the inlet openings of the associated intake ducts.

Watercraft with twin jet propulsion units

A jet propulsion system for watercraft employs twin impellers contained within a common housing assembly. The housing assembly defines an intake duct that delivers water from a single water inlet opening to impellers supported within the housing. The inlet opining can be positioned centrally on the watercraft to avoid drawing air in during abrupt maneuvering. A dividing wall extends from a location forward of the impellers into the water inlet duct to divide the flow of water well upstream of the impellers. The dividing wall is configured to reduce cross-effects caused of the counter-rotating impellers in the water flow upstream of the impellers without requiring any substantial change in direction of the water flow from the water inlet opening to the impellers.
