Display apparatus and method for automotive vehicle

A driving assist system for assisting manual effort by an operator to operate an accelerator pedal of a motor vehicle, the driving assist system comprises a data acquisition sub-system acquiring data including information on state of the motor vehicle and information on environment in a field around the motor vehicle. Control logic determines the degree of risk in the field around the motor vehicle in response to the acquired data. An actuator is provided, which is operable in response to a command for generating reaction force at the accelerator pedal. Control logic simply increases an increment of reaction force between a first reaction force increment and a second reaction force increment as the determined degree of risk grows from a predetermined cutoff value to a predetermined critical value to determine the command for regulating the actuator to realize the increment in reaction force. The first reaction force increment has a first magnitude in an area of a lower limit of a predetermined range, in magnitude, of increment in reaction force, which the vehicle operator can perceive through the sense of touch during depressing the accelerator pedal. The second reaction force increment has a second magnitude in an area of an upper limit of the predetermined range.

Driving assist system and method with accelerator pedal reaction force control

A driving assist system for assisting effort by an operator to operate a vehicle in traveling is provided. The driving assist system receives data including information on vehicle state and information on environment in a field around the vehicle. A controller, mounted to the vehicle, determines future environment in the field, makes an operator response plan in response to the determined future environment to determine command, and generates the command. The operator response plan prompts the operator to operating the vehicle in a desired manner for the determined future environment. At least one actuator, mounted to the vehicle, prompts the operator in response to the command to operating the vehicle in the desired manner.

Driving assist system

A display device is provided that does not cause the viewer to experience a feeling that something is abnormal, even when the relative positions of the display device and the viewer fluctuate. The display device basically includes a display section, a motion detecting section, an image displacement computing section and a display control section. The display section displays an image within a display region of a non-head mounted display screen. The motion detecting section detects a movement of the display section. The image displacement computing section computes a translational displacement of the display section based on the movement of the display section. The display control section adjusts a display position of the image within the display region of the display section based at least on the translational displacement of the display section. As a result, the displayed image appears stationary in space to the viewer.

A sensor senses a condition, such as a driver's eye position, an outside brightness and a steering frequency, affecting the uneasiness of a driver caused by the display screen. A controller reduces the size of a picture display region in accordance with the condition to achieve an agreeable size and position of picture on the screen.
