A power transmission device includes an armature that is shaped into a circular ring form. The armature is configured to be coupled with a rotor by an electromagnetic attractive force of an electromagnet at a time of energizing the electromagnet and is configured to be decoupled from the rotor at a time of deenergizing the electromagnet. The armature has an armature-side friction surface that is configured to contact a rotor-side friction surface of the rotor at the time of energizing the electromagnet. The armature-side friction surface has a plurality of grooves, each of which extends from a radially inner end portion of the armature-side friction surface to a location that is on a radially inner side of a radially outer end portion of the armature-side friction surface.

Power transmission device

In an electromagnetic clutch, a rotor, an armature and a stator housing including an electromagnetic coil are assembled to a center hub through a bearing member. Therefore, by assembling the center hub to an engine crank shaft, an assembling operation of the electromagnetic clutch to a vehicle is finished. In addition, a stator plate fixed to the stator housing is fixed to an engine through a bushing made of an elastic material. Therefore, a vibration displacement of the stator housing relative to the rotor, generated due to vibration of the engine, can be absorbed.

Electromagnetic clutch

A disk material is plastic-formed to form an inner cylindrical portion of a rotor and a cover member which covers an end side of the rotor. After that, the disk material is slit inwardly from an outside thereof in a radial direction of the disk material to form an outer cylindrical portion of the rotor and a pulley corresponding portion which will be the pulley. Finally, the pulley corresponding portion is plastic-formed to form a pulley groove. Thereby, even when the location of the pulley relative to the outer cylindrical portion are different, same processes can be applied to these different type pulley integrated rotors until the disk material is slit. That is, many different type pulley integrated type rotors can be manufactured with low cost while maintaining high concentric accuracy between the pulley and the rotor.

Method for manufacturing pulley integrated type rotor

A workpiece W2 is grasped by inserting a first jig into a concave portion which is formed in a rotor forming process, and by interfitting a second jig to a convex portion which is also formed in the rotor forming process. Thereby, the workpiece W2 is firmly grasped, and a groove-forming roller can be strongly pressed into the workpiece W2. A time for forming a pulley groove is shortened, and a manufacturing cost thereof is reduced.
