A liquid crystal power supply is provided which generates a high-precision drive power supply voltage supplied to a driver circuit by using a low-precision reference voltage generating circuit. The power supply circuit includes a DC/DC converter which generates a voltage having a size based on an oscillation signal from a power supply voltage and outputs the generated voltage as a drive power supply voltage; a stabilized power supply circuit which generates a highest-level reference potential for generating a gray-scale voltage in a driver circuit; a comparison unit which outputs a difference voltage according to a difference between the drive power supply voltage and the highest-level reference potential; an internal reference voltage generating unit; an error amplifying unit which amplifies a difference between the reference voltage and the difference voltage; and a PWM conversion unit which outputs an oscillation signal in response to the amplified difference.

Method of converting a linear value to an integer

An input/output device controller supplies power to a PC card in a secure manner. A PC card is a device that is loaded into a slot of a personal computer. The input/output device controller, which permits an information processing apparatus to communicate with an input/output device, operates in a manner so that when an abnormality is detected in the supply of operating power to the PC card, the detection result is reported to the personal computer. When an abnormality in the supply of operating power to the PC card is detected, the output of a driver for the PC card is halted so as to prevent the destruction of the internal circuitry of the PC card due to latch-up problems.

A liquid crystal display, in accordance with the present invention, includes a first substrate having a first conductive layer formed thereon. A linearization pattern is formed on the first conductive layer for applying voltage gradients across the first conductive layer. A flexible polarizer is included having a second conductive layer formed thereon facing the first conductive layer across a gap formed therebetween, the polarizer providing a contact surface such that a touched position on the polarizer causes contact between the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer thereby identifying a location of the touched position.

A display comprises a display area, and at least one touch switch region formed in the display area and to be driven by an independent power supply, wherein the touch switch region is operated with a predetermined input, whereby predetermined functions are controlled. Preferably, the input for controlling the predetermined function is provided by a touch of one touch switch region or a simultaneous touch of a plurality of touch switch regions once or a plurality of times in a predetermined order. Alternatively, the touch switch region is provided with an image read function, and at the time of the predetermined input, fingerprint authentication is performed simultaneously with the touch of the touch switch region. Alternatively, a window is displayed on the touch panel simultaneously with the touch of the touch switch region, a signature is written on the displayed window, and then signature authentication is performed.

Display

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device having a position detecting function with a high sensitivity and a high resolution. The position detecting function comprises a position detecting electrically conductive film on a polarizer or a color filter glass substrate of the liquid crystal display device. The present invention also can suppress the undesired generation of an air gap between the polarizer and color filter glass substrate by using a polarizer that is smaller in size relative to the position detecting electrically conductive film.

It is the object of the present invention to provide an improved peripheral unit, incorporating an MPU, that can reduce power consumption appropriately in accordance with mode transition when a host command from a host computer system is being processed, and a control method therefor. An MPU that requires a large amount of power, for example, is activated only when necessary, such as for the processing of a command (host command) from a computer system (host), and is deactivated during all other periods, by relinquishing the right of controlling of the operations to the respective sequencer circuits. The first sequencer circuit is activated only when necessary, such as for the transfer of data to the computer system. For the hardware operation of a device (e.g., writing data to or reading data from the device), the first sequencer circuit is deactivated, relinquishing the control right of that operation to the second sequencer circuit. On the other hand, for the transfer of data to the computer system, the second sequencer circuit is deactivated, relinquishing the control right of that operation to the first sequencer circuit. The respective circuits in the peripheral unit can be deactivated any time as needed in accordance with the state of the data transfer operation, which is performed between the host computer system and the peripheral unit.
