A method for producing pressure-responsive particles includes: adding an aggregating agent and a dispersion containing silica particles to a dispersion containing composite resin particles containing a styrene-based resin including a styrene compound and a vinyl monomer other than the styrene compound as polymer components and a (meth)acrylic acid ester-based resin including a (meth)acrylic acid ester compound as a polymer component to cause aggregation so as to form aggregated particles; and heating and fusing the aggregated particles to form pressure-responsive particles. The amount of the silica particles added by the dispersion containing the silica particles is 0.5 mass % or more and 10 mass % or less relative to a total mass of the composite resin particles. The mass ratio of the styrene-based resin to the (meth)acrylic acid ester-based resin in the pressure-responsive particles is from 80:20 to 20:80. A difference between the lowest glass transition temperature and the highest glass transition temperature of resins contained in the pressure-responsive particles is 30° C. or more.

Method for producing pressure-responsive particles, method for producing printed material, method for producing sheet for producing printed material, and pressure-responsive particles

A method for producing a printed material includes forming a color image having an image area ratio of 20% or less on a peripheral edge portion of a recording medium by using a coloring material; providing pressure-induced phase transition particles to a region of the recording medium, the region including the peripheral edge portion; bonding the color image and the pressure-induced phase transition particles onto the recording medium; and folding the recording medium having the color image and the pressure-induced phase transition particles bonded thereon and pressure-bonding the folded recording medium, or pressure-bonding the recording medium having the color image and the pressure-induced phase transition particles bonded thereon and another recording medium placed on top of each other. The pressure-induced phase transition particles contain a styrene resin and a (meth)acrylic acid ester resin, the styrene resin contains styrene and a vinyl monomer other than styrene as polymerization components, the (meth)acrylic acid ester resin contains at least two (meth)acrylic acid esters as polymerization components, and a mass ratio of the (meth)acrylic acid esters is 90 mass % or more of a total of all polymerization components of the (meth)acrylic acid ester resin. The pressure-induced phase transition particles have at least two glass transition temperatures, and a difference between the lowest glass transition temperature and the highest glass transition temperature among the glass transition temperatures of the pressure-induced phase transition particles is 30° C. or more.

A method for producing pressure-responsive particles includes: adding an aggregating agent to a dispersion containing composite resin particles containing a styrene-based resin including a styrene compound and a vinyl monomer other than the styrene compound as polymer components and a (meth)acrylic acid ester-based resin including a (meth)acrylic acid ester compound as a polymer component to aggregate the composite resin particles so as to form aggregated particles A; forming a shell by adding an aggregating agent and styrene-based resin particles containing a styrene compound and a vinyl monomer other than the styrene compound as polymer components to a dispersion containing the aggregated particles A to aggregate the styrene-based resin particles so as to form aggregated particles B; and heating and fusing the aggregated particles B to form pressure-responsive particles.

The pressure-induced phase transition particles have at least two glass transition temperatures, and the difference between the lowest glass transition temperature and the highest glass transition temperature among the glass transition temperatures exhibited by the pressure-induced phase transition particles is 30&#xb0; C. or more.

A method for forming a printed material includes forming an image on a recording medium; applying particles to a surface of the recording medium, the surface having the image formed thereon; heating the particles applied to the recording medium; and pressurizing, in a thickness direction, a multilayer body obtained by folding the recording medium so that the heated particles are sandwiched between flaps of the recording medium or a multilayer body obtained by placing another medium on top of the recording medium with the heated particles therebetween. The particles contain a styrene resin and a (meth)acrylic acid ester resin. The (meth)acrylic acid ester resin contains two (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer units, and a mass ratio of the (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer units relative to a total of polymerization components is 90 mass % or more.
