An airbag system is configured to fulfill its role on a saddle-ride type vehicle even when the vehicle collides with a side of a vehicle moving in a generally perpendicular direction. An embodiment of the airbag system includes an airbag which is configured to the inflated and fully upward from the vehicle front of a rider. The airbag includes a head part opposite to a rider's head during inflation and deployment, and a neck part which rises upward from the vehicle and toward the head part. The neck part has a width in a direction of vehicle width which is narrower than that of the head part. The neck part includes neckings curved inward in the direction of the vehicle width.

Airbag system of saddle-ride type vehicle

An airbag system of a saddle-ride type vehicle can include an airbag which is configured to be inflated and deployed in front of a rider. The airbag includes a plurality of expansion chambers, with the expansion chambers configured to be different in internal pressure during inflation and deployment.

To provide an airbag device for improving integrity between the airbag and exterior parts of a vehicle body and which excels in applicability. An airbag device is provided with a case which accommodates an airbag and an inflator. A lid is provided for releasing a side of the case when the airbag deploys together with a lid cover for covering the lid.

Airbag device

An air bag module cover structure is applied to a substantially rectangular parallelepiped-shaped air bag module. The three side surfaces of the air bag module that do not face the vehicle front side are provided with tear lines at upper portions thereof.

An airbag device and an airbag for a saddle-ride type vehicle is provided to efficiently utilize space in the vehicle body when installed therein, by using customized ways of shaping a housing case of the airbag and of folding the airbag so as to correspond to the shape of the housing case. The airbag device includes a housing case. The housing case includes a concave shape surface. The concave shape surface faces a steering stem. The housing case is disposed behind the steering stem so as to cover a rear of the steering stem with the concave shape surface. The airbag device includes an airbag housed in the housing case. The housed airbag corresponds to a shape of an inner peripheral surface of the housing case having the concave shape surface.

Airbag device and airbag for saddle-ride type vehicle

A wearing type airbag apparatus that is worn by a passenger in advance of a collision, wherein the passenger is not prevented from normal movement during normal travel of a vehicle. Upon the vehicle having a collision, an airbag body is immediately inflated and deployed so that an impact against the passenger is effectively and adequately absorbed. The airbag body and an inflator are provided on a wearing member. An ELR device is provided on a vehicle body, a connecting cable drawn therefrom. The connecting cable is connected to the inflator by an activation switch, so that when a tensile strength of a predetermined value or higher is exerted to the connecting cable, the activation switch is activated to inflate and deploy the airbag body.

Vehicle airbag apparatus

To suppress the transmission of vibrations from a vehicle body and an engine to an inflator in an air bag system. Rubber mounts are fitted to a retainer box for accommodating an air bag. A flange of an inflator is placed on the rubber mounts, and bolts are inserted through set plates for connecting the air bag to the inflator and through the flange. The bolts are further inserted through the rubber mounts and nuts are tightened to the bolts.

Air bag system

An internal combustion engine includes a connecting rod that connects a crankpin and a piston. The connecting rod has first and second connecting rods, and a guide piston is disposed at a connecting portion between the first and second connecting rods. Deformed portions are formed on a lower end portion of a guide piston and on a balancer weight portion of a crankshaft in order to reduce the whole length of the connecting rod, whereby a bottom dead center of the guide piston is set to a lower position. The engine has improved thermal efficiency by reducing the distance between the crank portion and the piston, increasing the speed of behavior of the piston at a position near a top dead center to reduce thermal energy loss, and preventing generation of knocking.

Internal combustion engine

In a compact vehicle in which a vehicular component engaged with an inflated and extended air bag is arranged in the inflated and extended range of the air bag that can constrain a rider on a seat provided to the rear of a body frame from a forward direction, even if there is the vehicular component engaged with the air bag in an inflated and extended state, space for the air bag to be fully inflated and extended is secured and in addition, the inflated and extended air bag is securely supported. A vehicular component can be turned between an inactuated position in which an air bag is folded and an actuated position in which the vehicular component is displaced from the inactuated position, being engaged with and supporting a part of the inflated and extended air bag and is supported by fixed supporting means.

Compact vehicle

An on-vehicle airbag apparatus includes an airbag housing having a weakened portion, which is breakable. An airbag is stored in a folded state in the airbag housing so that the weakened portion is broken upon inflation. An inflator for generating gas for inflating the airbag is provided. The speed of response of air discharge from the airbag is sufficiently enhanced. A shutter that can open and close the air discharge port is mounted on a case. The case is formed of rigid material, is hermetically connected to an opening of the airbag and is provided with the air discharge port. A shutter-driving actuator for driving a shutter from the closed position to the opened position when in operation is connected to the shutter.

On-vehicle airbag apparatus

An air bag apparatus for a compact vehicle, having an air bag that is capable of restraining an operator on a seat from a front direction, in response to an expansion of the air bag, wherein it is possible to securely restrain the operator on the seat without a need for enlarging the expansion volume of the air bag, even if a yaw behavior and/or a rolling behavior of the vehicle body are/is large. The air bag and the vehicle to the rear of the seat are linked via a pair of restraining belts at the right and left, which are stored in the vehicle body, when the air bag is in a state of being folded, and which come into a state of tension, at the right and left exterior sides of the operator on the seat, when the air bag expands.

Air bag apparatus for a scooter type motorcycle

To effectively restrain a rider on a seat provided at a rear portion of a vehicle body with an inflated air bag in a scooter type vehicle having a footrest for supporting the feet of the rider. An air bag that can be inflated so as to restrain a rider on a seat from the front side of the rider is accommodated in a folded condition inside a front end portion of the seat.

Air bag system in scooter type vehicle

In a compact vehicle including a pipe stem to be inserted into a head pipe wherein the pipe stem is rotatably supported by the head pipe located at the front end on a vehicle body frame. A front fork is provided for rotatably supporting a front wheel being to a top bridge and a bottom bridge secured at the upper and lower ends of the pipe stem. A steering handle is mounted on the top bridge. To simplify the configuration of the airbag and simplifying the connection between the inflator and the airbag is supported on the steering handle and the inflator for supplying gas for inflation and deployment is stored in the pipe stem.

Airbag apparatus for a compact vehicle

A motorcycle having a passenger seat at the center of vehicle body frame, has side members guarding the left and right sides of a passenger M sitting on the passenger seat with air bags in the side members for expanding the air bags in case of necessity. As the structure has the side members guarding the left and right sides of the passenger, the structure can reinforce the vehicle body frame. Further, since the structure includes the air bags in the side members, it can contribute to the protection of the passenger.

Vehicle air bag structure

In order to have an external force heading from the front toward the occupant received, a bumper member extending substantially along the length of the vehicle is disposed under or by the sides of the cabin (riding space). The shock absorbing members are connected at the rear ends of the bumper member. Even in the case of the vehicle in which it is difficult to dispose the shock absorbing member at the front portion of the vehicle within the range of the length of the vehicle for example, when an impact load is exerted to such a vehicle, the impact load may be efficiently absorbed. As a consequent the riding space for an occupant can be maintained. The shock absorbing body may be constructed of an upper shock absorbing member and a lower shock absorbing member. The upper and lower shock absorbing members may be formed of two types of members having different crushing features. Accordingly, since the shock absorbing body is constructed by combining two members having different crushing features, the crushing extent of the shock absorbing body may preferably be determined corresponding to the two-wheel vehicle.
