The head chip includes an actuator plate having ejection channels and non-ejection channels extending in a Y direction and arranged alternately in an X direction, an intermediate plate overlapped with the actuator plate in a Z direction, and provided with communication holes communicated with the ejection channels and through holes communicated with the non-ejection channels, and a nozzle plate overlapped with the intermediate plate in the Z direction in a state of closing the through holes, and provided with nozzle holes which are communicated with the communication holes, jet liquid contained in the ejection channels, and are formed at positions corresponding to the ejection channels. The non-ejection channels are communicated with an outside of the head chip. The through holes are each disposed at an inner side in the X direction of the inner surfaces extending in the Y direction of the non-ejection channel viewed from the Z direction.

There are provided a head chip, a liquid jet head, a liquid jet recording device, and a method of manufacturing the head chip each capable of preventing the short circuit of electrodes by ink to maintain an excellent ejection performance over a long period of time. The head chip according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes an actuator plate, a cover plate, and an intermediate plate. In the actuator plate, open apertures which communicate an inside and an outside of a non-ejection channel with each other are formed in both end portions of the non-ejection channel in a Y direction. In the actuator plate, open apertures which communicate an inside and an outside of a non-ejection channel with each other are formed in both end portions of the non-ejection channel in the Y direction.

An actuator plate is adapted to apply pressure to the liquid, and includes a first surface, and a second surface facing to an opposite side to the first surface, ejection channels and non-ejection channels which have an opening on the first and/or second surface and are alternately arranged to be separated from each other, a common electrode disposed on a sidewall of the ejection channel, an individual electrode electrically separated from the common electrode and disposed on a sidewall of the non-ejection channel, a common electrode pad disposed on the first surface and adapted to electrically connect the common electrode and a wiring board to each other, and a bypass interconnection adapted to electrically connect the individual electrodes in the non-ejection channels adjacent to each other and failing to be exposed on the first surface.

A method of manufacturing a liquid jet head includes a through hole forming step of forming through holes on a base plate, an actuator plate bonding step of bonding actuator plates to opposite sides of the base plate, and an electrode forming step of forming electrodes on the bonded base plate and the actuator plates. In the through hole forming step, the through holes are formed on the base plate and the inner surfaces of the through holes are roughened. In the electrode forming step, second extraction electrodes are routed to a principal surface of the base plate through the through holes.

A liquid jet head includes an actuator substrate having an alternating array of ejection grooves and non-ejection grooves which penetrate from an upper surface to a lower surface of the actuator substrate and are longer in a substrate surface direction than in a depth direction. A cover plate attached to the actuator substrate covers upper surface openings of the grooves, and a nozzle plate attached to the actuator substrate covers lower surface openings of the grooves. The grooves are formed in such a manner that configurations of the lower surface openings of the ejection grooves and the non-ejection grooves are different.

A liquid jet head includes a piezoeletric body substrate and an opaque substrate bonded to the piezoelectric body substrate. The piezoeletric body substrate has ejection grooves arrayed with an identical pitch P in a reference direction and non-ejection grooves arrayed alternately with the ejection grooves while shifted from the ejection grooves by a half pitch (P/2). A liquid jet head includes a piezoelectric substrate having ejection grooves formed in an upper surface thereof and arranged in a reference direction. A side flow path is formed in a first side surface of the piezoelectric substrate and communicates with the ejection grooves. A cover plate is bonded to the upper surface, and a nozzle plate is bonded to the first side surface and has nozzles communicating with the respective ejection grooves.

A method of manufacturing a head chip includes a groove forming step for forming grooves which are the bases of ejection grooves on a first surface of the actuator substrate, a substrate grinding step for grinding a second surface of the actuator substrate so that each of the grooves has a predetermined depth, a recessed portion forming step for forming an inspection recessed portion which changes its state in the second surface of the actuator substrate according to the grinding amount of the actuator substrate in the substrate grinding step, and a grinding amount determination step for determining the grinding amount of the actuator substrate on the basis of a state of the inspection recessed portion after the substrate grinding step.

A method of manufacturing a liquid jet head includes: a groove forming step of alternately forming ejection grooves and non-ejection grooves in a reference direction on an upper surface of an actuator substrate; a cover plate processing step of forming a recessed portion on an upper surface of a cover plate and slits penetrating the cover plate from a bottom surface of the recessed portion through a lower surface located opposite to the upper surface of the cover plate; a substrate bonding step of bonding the lower surface of the cover plate to the upper surface of the actuator substrate to allow the slits to communicate with the respective ejection grooves; and an electrode forming step of simultaneously forming conductive films on side surfaces of the ejection grooves, side surfaces of the non-ejection grooves, and inner surfaces of the slits and the recessed portion.

A liquid jet head includes an actuator substrate having a principal surface on which ejection channels and non-ejection channels are formed, common electrodes formed on side surfaces of the ejection channels, individual electrodes formed on side surfaces of the non-ejection channels, individual electrode pads for connection to the individual electrodes, and common electrode pads for connection to the common electrodes. A groove is formed on the principal surface of the actuator substrate for isolating the individual electrode pads and the common electrode pads from one another. An external substrate has individual electrode terminals and common electrode terminals for connection to the individual electrode pads and common electrode pads, respectively. A connection wiring that connects the common electrode terminals to each other is formed along the groove to prevent an electrical short circuit between the connection wiring and the individual electrodes.

A communication path is provided in one or both of the cover plate and flow path member for bypassing the liquid from the liquid supply chamber to the liquid discharge chamber so that air bubbles trapped in the liquid can be effectively discharged to the outside.
