A liquid crystal display device includes: a display unit including a first liquid crystal panel and a second liquid crystal panel disposed on a rear surface side of the first liquid crystal panel; and an image processor that generates first and second output image signals respectively output to the first and second liquid crystal panels based on an input image signal. The image processor includes; a distributor that distributes the input image signal into first and second distribution image signals used to generate the first and second output image signals, respectively; and a first unevenness corrector that generates the first output image signal by performing first unevenness correction to prevent display unevenness of the display unit on the first distribution image signal output from the distributor, and outputs the generated first output image signal to the first liquid crystal panel.

Liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display device is disclosed utilizing two or more display panels stacked on top of each other. In a dual panel configuration, the first display panel may be comprised of color pixels and the second display panel may be comprised of contrast pixels. The color pixel in the first display panel has a corresponding contrast pixel in the second display panel wherein said contrast pixel is larger in terms of length and in size than the corresponding color pixel. The liquid crystal display device may also switch to a mode that uses an expansion method of contrast pixels to reduce image displacement. Further disclosed is a configuration where the relative position of the first display panel and the second display panel may be adjusted to align the corresponding color and contrast pixels when viewing the display in oblique angles.

An image display device includes: a display; gate signal lines including a first pixel row and a second pixel row; a gate driver; data signal lines; a source driver; and a controller that determines whether the second pixel row has correlation with the first pixel row in an image. When determining that the second pixel row has the correlation with the first pixel row, the controller causes the source driver to supply the data voltage corresponding to the first pixel row, causes the gate driver to supply the gate signal to write the data voltage in the first pixel row, and causes the gate driver to supply the gate signal to write the data voltage corresponding to the first pixel row in the second pixel row.
